sVo Showdown 155

The new sVo Champion Night takes on August Lazar in the main event.

sVo Showdown 155
Live on the HOTv Network on PWA:TV
Goodfellas Casino Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
6th August 2023

As the video package finally comes to an end with an extended look at the ‘Sunday Night Showdown’ logo, the camera cuts to an exterior shot of the Goodfellas Casino Arena, in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, before cutting to a live shot of inside the arena. The camera pans around the sold-out crowd, most of them on their feet and screaming loudly whilst trying to get their homemade sign shown in front of the camera. The cameras finally head over to the commentary table, where Julian Fiasco and Jeremiah Sloan welcome the fans watching on the HOTv network on PWA:TV to the broadcast and begin to break down some of the action that will take place on tonight’s show, the first Showdown after the historic Ultimate Victory 2023 PPV two weeks ago, where a new sVo Champion was crowned!

Last Time on the sVo….

  • Night defeated Bobby Dean in the main event to win the sVo Championship for the third time in his career, however Dean reacted badly to the loss, nailing the new Champion in the back of the head with the gold after shaking his hand.
  • JVD continued his winning streak after announcing he will retire next time he loses a match, defeating El Froggo to win the sVo Las Vegas Championship belt.
  • Johnny Moretti defeated Hiro Ryuu and then Kenneth D Williams to win the Victory Cup, before seemingly imploding Blood Money with an ‘All Star Stunner’ on Junior Gambino!

The Decision

The cameras head to the backstage area, and there are boos from the crowd watching on the giant screen as they notice Johnny Moretti, the 2023 Victory Cup winner walking with a purpose! Moretti has a huge smile on his face after winning the Victory Cup and bagging himself a future sVo Championship shot, and seemingly kicking Junior Gambino out of Blood Money all in one night!

Moretti, who is dressed in an expensive looking Italian suit, turns the corner of the corridor and barges into the door marked ‘Blood Money’, before staggering back a few steps in shock.

Johnny Moretti: “What the fuck is he doing here?”

Moretti points past the sVo Tag Team Champions, Anthony Moretti & Joe Barone who are also in the room, and points straight at Junior Gambino who is sitting in the corner.

Gambino quickly jumps to his feet, as Anthony Moretti rushes to restrain his half brother Johnny and Barone holds back Gambino.

Johnny Moretti: “I sent that useless prick packing at Ultimate Victory, so I repeat, what is he doing here?”

Johnny Moretti is raging, as he tries to push past his half brother.

Anthony Moretti: “That wasn’t your decision to make Johnny. We need to have a sit down about it tonight! Figure out where we go from here!”

Johnny Moretti angrily shoves his half brother Anthony, causing everyone in the room to stop for a second.

Johnny Moretti: “Screw that! The decision has been made! There ain’t gonna be no sit downs! I am the Victory Cup winner, I am the NEXT sVo Champion! Get that little prick out of here and out of Blood Money, or else!”

Johnny Moretti stares down his half brother and the rest of Blood Money for a few seconds, before turning and angrily pushing through the door and slamming it behind him.

Settling Scores

After the successful title defence for Kyle McRae, the cameras head backstage to the interview area, where the new sVo Champion Night is standing by with Katie Smith! The red headed interviewer has a microphone in hand as always, as Night proudly shows off the new gold over his shoulder.

Katie Smith: “Night! Thank you for joining me here tonight! Now Ultimate Victory was a hell of a night for you, no pun intended, congratulations on winning the sVo Championship for the third time!”

Night gently bows his head.

Night: “Thank you Katie. I promised myself I was going to do it, I promised the fans I was going to do it, but most importantly I promised Master Kimura that I would do it….”

Night looks solemn for a few seconds as he looks to the sky.

Night: “I know that he was looking down and cheering me on as loudly as he would when he stood at ringside…..”

There is a loud cheer from the crowd in support of Night, as Katie Smith touches the Champions arm in support.

Katie Smith: “One thing that I did want to get your comment on is the actions of your opponent Bobby Dean after the match?”

There is a mixed reaction from the crowd in the direction of ‘BBD’.

Night: “Katie, I only blame myself for not seeing that coming from a mile away. I have known Bobby for over ten years and I know he is not to be trusted. He doesn’t fight with honour, but his day will come…. Unfortunately that day won’t be today as I understand he hasn’t get the courage to show up tonight….”

The fans boo loudly, as Night looks at the ground and shakes his head.

Katie Smith: “Well be that as it may, you are in action in the main event of this evening as you take on another former sVo Champion in August Lazar. Can you tell the fans why you challenge Big Aug to a match here tonight?”

Night: “The Showdown before Ultimate Victory, Big Aug hit me with an unprovoked clothesline, before him and his friends beat me down 3 on 1. An honest mistake I am sure after Bobby Dean’s trickery that night, but still a mistake that I am yet to receive an apology for….. I will teach Big Aug a thing or two about honour tonight when I show him just why I am the sVo Champion by beating him in the middle of that ring tonight!”

Loud cheers from the fans for Night, who pats the sVo Championship resting on his shoulder.

Katie Smith: “And lastly, any comment on Johnny Moretti winning the Victory Cup and earning himself a Championship shot?”

Night: “No comment from me Katie other than I welcome the challenge. I have been in this position twice before and I know I have a target on my back now more than ever before. So if Johnny Moretti, Bobby Dean, Big Aug…. anyone else….. wants a shot, they just have to step up and challenge me with honour and I will gladly show them why no one is taking this from me!”

Night holds the gold up to the camera, as the scene fades out to ringside.

The Fear of Competition

The cameras head backstage after the exciting back and forth match up, where Amy Page is in her office watching the action on a giant monitor. Also in the room watching the action is the giant Rick Reid, the former Roulette Champion who lost his gold at the Proving Grounds event before the PPV in a shock defeat to Kyle McRae.

Amy Page: “Wow, what a match! Now that is how you win a match with style!”

Page glances sideways towards Reid, the message clear. Reid knows better than to answer back, maintaining eye contact for a few seconds before looking down.

Amy Page: “I am telling you now, you need to step it up if you want to stay part of the team. With my brother bringing back DW after all these years as well as Project:Violence, the competition is going to be hotter than ever. I can’t afford to carry any passengers…”

Page stares at Rick Reid, who stares back before nodding his head.

Amy Page: “Now I want you out in that locker room, make yourself useful. I want you to find out if anyone Is jumping ship to DW. If they are, then make sure they will not be in any physical condition to do any sort of jumping for the foreseeable future….. Got it?”

Reid nods his head, rising to his feet.

Amy Page: “Don’t let me down….. again….”

Page leaves the parting shot stinging in the ear of Reid, as the big man slowly leaves the office without comment.

Night vs Big Aug

Ringside
The Target

The fans cheer loudly as the referee hops to the outside of the ring and grabs the sVo Championship belt, before rolling back in under the bottom rope and presenting it to Night, who proudly lifts it into the air in victory. Night makes his way around the four corners of the ring, climbing the turnbuckle in each corner to show off his gold but also celebrate his victory over Big Aug with the fans packed into the Goodfellas Casino Arena.

Suddenly the cheers turn to boos, as the fans in the arena notice the large frame of Bobby Dean hopping over the security barrier, before rolling into the ring behind the back of the sVo Champion!

The boos continue as Bobby Dean pulls Night down off of the second rope in the corner, before nailing the shocked Champion with a ‘Deaner Weiner’! Night lays motionless on the mat, as Bobby Dean smirks whilst lifting the sVo Championship belt up, and holding it in the air himself!

However Dean’s reuniting with the gold doesn’t last for long, as he is grabbed and spun around by Big Aug! Aug shouts at Bobby Dean, clearly having seen the footage back from Showdown 154 where Dean hit Big Aug with a steel chair before blaming it on Night!

Bobby Dean tries to protest, but it is in vain as Big Aug drills the former Champion with a ‘Dunked On’ to a loud pop from the crowd! With Night and Dean both down on the mat, Big Aug turns to leave the ring, before his eyes are drawn to the sVo Championship belt laying on the mat. There is a mixed reaction from the crowd, as Big Aug looks around, before walking over and picking the belt up!

Aug looks down at the belt that he lost to Dean all those months ago in his hands, as Night slowly begins to get to his feet. Night eyes Big Aug suspiciously, as the big man seems to have a few different thoughts going through his head! Big Aug finally takes the belt and places it carefully over the shoulder of Night, before patting it aggressively with one of his big bear paw like hands!

Aug and Night stare each other down, as Big Aug leaves the sVo Champion in the ring with the downed Bobby Dean, as Showdown 155 heads off of the air!
