After the PWA intro, the entrance video package for sVo Sunday Night Showdown begins, accompanied by the theme song of ‘Showdown’ by Pendulum. Highlights of past action from 2013 to present day are sped up, showing the likes of August Lazar, Bobby Dean, Roscoe Shame, Night, Jay Wildman, Cody Williams & Nathan Paradine! As the video package finally comes to an end with an extended look at the ‘Sunday Night Showdown’ logo, the camera cuts to an exterior shot of the Goodfellas Casino Arena, in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, before cutting to a live shot of inside the arena.
The camera pans around the sold-out crowd, most of them on their feet and screaming loudly whilst trying to get their homemade sign shown in front of the camera. The cameras finally head over to the commentary table, where Julian Fiasco and Jeremiah Sloan welcome the fans watching on the HOTv network on PWA:TV to the broadcast and begin to break down some of the action that will take place on tonight’s show, including the second round of the 2023 Victory Cup!
Ringside
A Challenger Appears…
“You’re the Best” by Joe Esposito hits the sound system and there is a huge cheer in the arena, as the Goodfellas Casino Arena is bathed in a baby blue hue. After a few seconds, the man himself, new sVo Champion Bobby Dean slowly walks out onto the top of the entrance wearing his trademark robe. Dean poses at the top of the entrance ramp, before making out that he had forgotten something and disappearing back through the curtain. The fans cheer loudly as Dean re-emerges a few seconds, hold the big gold sVo Championship belt that he has been chasing his whole career!
Dean slowly walks down the entrance ramp holding the belt aloft, stopping to take selfies with the fans in the entrance way as he walks. Dean finally rolls into the ring under the bottom rope and grabs a microphone from the ring announcer Natasha Ortiz. BBD holds the gold up in the air one last time, before calling for the fans to quieten down so he can address them.
Bobby Dean: “Hmmm, I got to say, I am a little confused by the lack of fan fare…. I would have thought that Page could have sprung for a few balloons with all the dough he has, maybe a cake and a few strippers or so…..”
Loud cheers from the crowd.
Bobby Dean: “But then again this is Vegas so anything is possible by the end of the night!”
The crowd cheer loudly again as Dean winks into the camera.
Bobby Dean: “Ladies and gentlemen, time to waken up at last! The snoozy reign of the previous champion is finally over! This is a new dawn for the sVo with the one man that deserves to hold this belt holding it up high!”
Dean lofts the belt into the air once again, getting huge cheers from the fans! However the smile on the face of the new Champion doesn’t last for two long, as suddenly the cheers intensify as “Knife Party” by Deftones hits the sound system!
Everyone knows who is coming next, as smoke emerges from the entrance way before the legendary Night finally steps through it! Dean looks across the arena at his former tag team championship partner, as Night slowly makes his way down the entrance ramp! Dean keeps his eye on Night, as the Japanese star signals to the fans, before climbing into the ring to come face to face with the new Champion.
Bobby Dean: “Ah Night! My old friend, my old foe….. How kind of you to be the first out here to congratulate your old pal on finally being the top dog around here! I take it you want to say a few words?”
Night nods respectfully, as Bobby Dean teases handing Night the microphone, before finally handing it to him with a smirk on his face.
Night: “Bobby… I do want to say congratulations to you….”
There are cheers from the fans, but Dean quickly snatches the microphone away from Night before he can say anything else.
Bobby Dean: “Very touching, very touching indeed. Now if there was nothing else I have some other people that I am sure want to congratulate me….”
Dean looks at Night, but Night takes the microphone back off of Dean, drawing a small gasp and cheer from the crowd.
Night: “Actually Bobby, there was something else. As well as congratulating you, I want to be the first person to challenge you! I promised my mentor that I would win that belt one more time….. time for me to cash in on that promise!”
The fans cheer loudly for Night, but BBD doesn’t seem too thrilled about the prospect of defending against Night in his first title defence.
Bobby Dean: “Well old buddy, I really wish you didn’t say those words…. But sure, if you can get which ever Page family member is running this place this week to sign off on it, then you got yourself a match!”
Night looks pleased with the plan, as he extends his hand for Bobby Dean to shake, however the new sVo Champion looks a little unsure, before feigning to shake the hand of his opponent and then brushing his hand through his hair. Night has a rye smile and shakes his head, as the new sVo Champion makes his way out of the ring and to the back, holding the belt high in the air again!

Carny Sinclair vs. Hugo Ryzing
Showdown 153 and the 2nd round of the Victory Cup kicks off with two men who both have a good chance of going all the way! Carny Sinclair takes on Hugo Ryzing, but will the massive Russian Reznikov in Sinclair’s corner be the difference maker?

Hiro Ryuu vs. Junior Gambino
Two upcoming stars collide, as fan favourite Hiro Ryuu takes on Junior Gambino of Blood Money! Can Ryuu continue to build his success in the sVo, or will Gambino prove to Johnny Moretti that he deserves to be a member of Blood Money by progressing to the next round?
Backstage
Making Up For Lost Time
The cameras head to the backstage area, where Katie Smith is standing by with Jupiter James!
Katie Smith: “Jupiter, thanks for joining me ahead of such a big match!”
James smiles and nods.
Katie Smith: “Now you made your return only a few weeks ago after a really long injury lay off, how does it feel to be back?”
Jupiter James: “It feels great Katie! I was out of action for a LOOOONG time! Now it’s time to make up for that lost time! I intend on making a start of that tonight.”
Katie Smith: “Well you couldn’t have faced a tougher draw in this round, facing former sVo Champion Johnny Moretti. Are you confident about your chances?”
Jupiter James: “Katie, the bigger they are the harder they fall, and they arguably don’t come much bigger than Moretti! It will just make my victory all the more sweeter. I fully intend on winning the Victory Cup and going on to become the first women to hold the sVo Championship!”
Jupiter James nods to Katie Smith to signal that the interview is over, before making her way out of the interview pit and towards the gorilla section.
Katie Smith: “Seems like the time for talking is over, that match is coming up next!”

Johnny Moretti vs. Jupiter James
One of the favourites for the whole tournament is in action next as Johnny Moretti, former sVo Champion, looks to win it all and earn another title shot. However can Jupiter James upset the odds as she continues her return from a long injury lay off?
Backstage
Boy
The cameras head backstage to the locker room of Blood Money, where a disappointed Junior Gambino is unpeeling the tape from his wrists, while Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone watch on. Suddenly, the door swings open and in walks a delighted Johnny Moretti!
Johnny Moretti: “Oh yeah boy! That is how you do it, that is how you progress in a tournament! That is how you become a legend!”
Gambino looks less than impressed with Johnny Moretti’s comments, clearly taking them personally before muttering something under his breath.
Johnny Moretti: “What did you say boy?”
Gambino angrily gets to his feet, as the tag team champions jump up to get between the two.
Junior Gambino: “I said you beat a god damn woman….. and stop calling me boy!”
Moretti looks angry for a few seconds, before laughing and shaking his head.
Johnny Moretti: “I will call you what ever I like kid, and she was a hell of a lot tougher than the two matches I had against you!”
Gambino swings for Johnny Moretti, but the tag team champions are quickly in to break up the brawl! The tension in Blood Money doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon as the scene fades out with Junior Gambino and Johnny Moretti being restrained.

Adam Fury vs. Sam Vintage
Two of the unsigned fighters still in the tournament look to progress to the next round, but can Adam Fury or Sam Vintage go all the way and win the whole thing?

Two sVo veterans and former Champions look to make it big and progress into the next round to face the unsigned David Turner, as former Las Vegas Champion takes on former TapOut Champion Alissia Young!
Backstage
On the Line
The cameras head to the backstage interview area once again, where this time Katie Smith is standing by with JVD.
Katie Smith: “JVD, thanks for joining me here tonight! Now last week was a big week for you with a match at the PWA 02 PPV where you emerged victorious against Anthony Moretti with your career on the line! How did it feel for your career to be on the line?”
JVD: “I won’t lie Katie, I walked into that match knowing that it might be the last time I ever stepped into the squared circle. I knew my whole career, my whole life could be over if I lost that match!”
JVD pauses for a few seconds to reflect.
JVD: “I got to be honest, that pressure gave me a buzz, I went out there and gave one of the biggest performances of my career and got the job done! Got the 1,2,3! I know the next time I step into the ring it is going to be that same rush, and I am ready for it Katie. God help anyone that has to step into the ring with me!”

After ‘Sledgehammer’ Daniel Jackson’s impressive showing against Dallas Jordan in the last round, he must take on the reigning Roulette Champion Rick Reid if he wants to progress any further!

Kenneth D Williams vs. August Lazar
After overcoming the legendary William Vorheez in the last round, former sVo Champion August Lazar must make it through another top star in Kenneth D Williams in a match which could easily main event any PPV!
Ringside
2023 Winner?
The fans cheer loudly as Kenneth D Williams rises up to his feet and has his arms raised in the air in victory! Big Aug sits in the corner looking dejected, his hopes of bouncing back from his sVo Championship loss and winning the Victory Cup in tatters! Williams continues the celebration as the show heads off of the air!
