sVo Showdown 149
Live on the HOTv Network on PWA:TV
Goodfellas Casino Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
16th April 2023

After the PWA intro, the entrance video package for sVo Sunday Night Showdown begins, accompanied by the theme song of ‘Showdown’ by Pendulum. Highlights of past action from 2013 to present day are sped up, showing the likes of August Lazar, Bobby Dean, Roscoe Shame, Night, Jay Wildman, Cody Williams & Nathan Paradine! As the video package finally comes to an end with an extended look at the ‘Sunday Night Showdown’ logo, the camera cuts to an exterior shot of the Goodfellas Casino Arena, in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, before cutting to a live shot of inside the arena.

The camera pans around the sold-out crowd, most of them on their feet and screaming loudly whilst trying to get their homemade sign shown in front of the camera. The cameras finally head over to the commentary table, where Julian Fiasco and Jeremiah Sloan welcome the fans watching on the HOTv network on PWA:TV to the broadcast and begin to break down some of the action that will take place on tonight’s show, including a massive main event with Night taking on Bronson Johnson!

Previously on Showdown 148…

  • Amy Page set Rick Reid on Bronson Johnson, after demanding that he pledge his loyalty to the sVo.
  • Alissia Young challenged the new management to get her back in the ring.
  • Johnny Moretti set Junior Gambino up with a match with former Blood Money member JVD, demanding that he win the match, which he did.
  • Patriot Act defeated the Starr Brothers in tag action to jump up the rankings.
  • Hugo Ryzing blasted the sVo for not booking him, and sent a warning out that there would be consequences if he wasn’t given opportunities.
  • Bobby Dean bested Night, Kenneth D Williams & Johnny Moretti to become the new #1 contender!

RINGSIDE
Third Time Lucky

“You’re the Best” hits the sound system and the fans cheer loudly as a baby blue glow engulfs the Goodfellas Casino Arena. After a few seconds, the man himself struts out onto the top of the entrance arena wearing a baby blue robe, that man being ‘Beautiful’ Bobby Dean, the current #1 contender for the sVo Championship!

Dean stands at the top of the entrance ramp for a few seconds, soaking in the cheers from the Las Vegas crowd, before he struts his way down the entrance ramp. Dean rolls into the ring under the bottom rope and then asks for the live microphone from the ring announcer Natasha Ortiz, before waiting for his music to fade out and the cheers to slowly die out.

Bobby Dean: “One-month ladies and gentlemen, one month!”

There are cheers from the crowd.

Bobby Dean: “In one month I will be stepping back into this ring to challenge for the sVo Championship! The one Championship that I have never managed to get my hands on….”

Dean makes the motion for a title belt around his waist, which draws big cheers from the crowd.

Bobby Dean: “At Seasons Beatings I came close, at Countdown to Violence I came even closer…. At Roll the Dice I will finally get my hands on the gold!”

The fans continue to cheer for Dean, but before he can speak another word, “Starts Right Here” by Foreign Air and Kenny Mason hits the sound system in the arena! There is another big cheer, despite Dean not looking too impressed at being intrupted, as the sVo Champion August Lazar steps out onto the top of the entrance ramp, flanked by BIGBOSS Batts & BIG Kahuna Ali’i!

Lazar unstraps the sVo Championship from around his waist and holds it high in the air for everyone to see, before putting it over his shoulder.

August Lazar: “Batts…. Ali’i…. Can you believe what we are hearing?”

BIG Trouble shake their heads as Lazar stares down at Bobby Dean.

August Lazar: “This fat man thinks he is going to take my championship! I am number one foodie in the sVo, but maybe the fat man is getting confused and thinks he is going to take that title!”

Lazar laughs hysterically at his own joke, which from the reactions of his team mates clearly didn’t translate too well.

August Lazar: “Bobby Dean! I beat three other men at Countdown to Violence to retain this belt, including YOU…..!”

Lazar holds the gold up again to a cheer from the crowd.

August Lazar: “…. What makes you think you will beat me solo?”

Lazar stares down the entrance ramp at Dean in the ring, clearly throwing the challenge down to the challenger.

Bobby Dean: “Big Aug, you are a great champion, and you had my number in our last two meetings… but that Championship is the last one I need to add to my collection, and this time the result will be very different!”

Dean and Lazar stare each other down across the arena as the crowd cheer the pair on, as Showdown heads to a commercial break!

Alissia Young vs. El Froggo

RINGSIDE
Title Shot

The referee raises the arm of El Froggo in the air in victory, which gets loud cheers from the fans in the arena! Alissia Young bails out of the ring looking annoyed with her own performance, as El Froggo calls for a microphone! The fans continue to cheer El Froggo on, as Natasha Ortiz tosses the masked man the live microphone, as he tries to catch his breath before speaking.

El Froggo: “Si!!”

Loud cheer from the crowd.

El Froggo: “Si! Si! Si!”

More cheers from the crowd as El Froggo looks more and more animated.

El Froggo: “Grande win for El Froggo! Si!”

The masked man throws his arm up in the air, to another big cheer from the crowd.

El Froggo: “Now El Froggo wants gold! El Froggo wants Título! El Froggo wants Las Vegas Oro!”

The fans cheer loudly again as El Froggo makes the motion for a title belt, but the boos are broken as ‘Testify’ by Rage Against the Machine hits the sound system, and the Las Vegas Champion Dallas Jordan walks out onto the top of the entrance ramp! Alongside Jordan, as ever, are Travis Armstrong and Lance Abbott, the group collectively known as Patriot Act!

Dallas Jordan: “Seriously?”

The boos almost drown out the words from Jordan.

Dallas Jordan: “You people are going to cheer for this alien? This illegal?”

More loud boos.

Dallas Jordan: “What am I saying, most of you probably snuck over the border in the last few weeks as well!”

Jordan points out at the crowd, as Abbott and Armstrong stand alongside him smiling.

Dallas Jordan: “Well let me put this in a language that even you bordar bandits can understand! No title shot for you!”

The crowd boo loudly as Jordan points at El Froggo in the ring, before giving the nod to Armstrong and Abbott! The crowd boo even louder as the three men make their way down towards the ring, before circling El Froggo who stands in the center of the squared circle! Patriot Act dive into the ring and take down El Froggo, despite the masked man fighting back bravely!

The fans continue to boo loudly as Dallas Jordan locks in the ‘Patriot Lock’ on El Froggo, and refuses to let go despite El Froggo tapping out furiously! Dallas Jordan keeps the hold locked on, until security and a group of referees are able to get down to the ring to separate the fighters. The referees check on El Froggo, whilst Patriot Act back up the entrance ramp with a smile on their faces as Showdown heads to a commercial!

Cashing In

After the exciting tag team action between BIG Trouble and the Starr Brothers, the cameras head backstage to the office of COO Amy Page, where the boss is with Patriot Act! The fans boo loudly for the sight of the four, with Amy Page sitting behind her desk.

Amy Page: “Gents, what can I do for you?”

Jordan steps forward out of the three, the Las Vegas Championship belt over his shoulder.

Dallas Jordan: “I think you know why we are here Amy, my boys here and ready to sign on the dotted line, cash in those wins and finally get their shot at the sVo Tag Team Championship belts!”

Page shrugs her shoulders.

Amy Page: “Sure, when you guys want to do this thing?”

Jordan looks back at his two partners, all three members of Patriot Act looking surprised at how easy that was.

Dallas Jordan: “Well I got to say, you are lot easier to do business with than your brother was…. Well a big title win is only right for a PPV, how about we say Roll the Dice?”

Page nods her head, taking the compliment on board.

Amy Page: “Well thank you Dallas, I will keep that in mind… Sure, Roll the Dice 2023, Blood Money vs Patriot Act…. Consider it booked!”

Page claps her hands together as the scene fades out.

Katie Smith: Well, as you may know, the Southern Boys made an unannounced return to Missouri Valley Wrestling Tuesday night.

(VIDEO FROM TUESDAY-MVW’s Wrestling Night in the Heartland)

-In the middle of a match between featuring The Alabama Gang , The Southern Boys race down from the back and attacked the former HOTv Tag Team champions.

-‘Dangerous’ Dan Williams and ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller beat down the Alabama Gang in the ring while manager ‘Texas Cowgirl’ Haley Dallas decks the Alabama Gang’s valet Sunny O’Callahan.

-Then Dallas took to the microphone and had this to say:

Haley Dallas: Y’all think you can just walk in here and replace us?  Unh ah.   The fact of the matter is, y’all are an inferior version of the Southern Boys.

She then stares down O’Callahan- unconscious and crumpled up on the floor next to a broken bottle of Southern Comfort.

Haley Dallas: You are a bad imitation of the Texas Cowgirl.  You ain’t worthy to shine my boots.

Haley then turns to the hard camera.

Haley Dallas: PWA-2 show.  June 10th.  The Alabama Gang version the original premier southern tag team in MVW… The Southern Boys.   We are challenging you to a match and we’ll see just who the better southern tag team is.

(End video)

Katie Smith: Well tonight, apparently there was a response.  Cameras caught up to this scene just a few minutes ago.

Cut to…

Close up of Sunny O’Callahan with a single lightbulb shining.  Despite the lighting, the nicks and stitches from Haley Dallas’s attack on her Tuesday night are visible.

Sunny takes a drink from a bottle of Southern Comfort and faces the camera.

Sunny O’Callahan: Southern Boys.  On behalf of the Alabama Gang… R.G. Jenkins and Mark Hendry…

The camera pulls back.  Sunny is dressed in the fashion of a female background singer from a late seventies Southern rock band wearing a spaghetti strap top, a pair of jeans, heels. and her usually straight hair is all frizzed out and curly.

She extends her arm back and camera pulls R.G. Jenkins and Mark Hendry… both standing over the unconscious bodies of Dan Williams, Dave Miller, and Haley Dallas… into the shot.

Sunny O’Callahan: …we accept your challenge.

Sunny tips her head back and takes a healthy guzzle from the bottle of Southern Comfort as we fade to black.

BACKSTAGE
Made Man

The cameras head backstage to the locker room of Blood Money, where there is still a frosty atmosphere amongst the four sVo stars. The sVo Tag Team Champions Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone sit silently watching, whilst Johnny Moretti warms up for his match later on tonight against Hiro Ryuu.

Johnny Moretti: “Junior, get over here, I need a sparring partner.”

Moretti clicks his fingers and gestures Junior Gambino over. The youngster of the group reluctantly makes his way over.

Johnny Moretti: “Right young boy, hold you hands up so I have something to hit….”

Gambino reluctantly holds his hands up for Moretti to spar with, as the Tag Team Champions glance at each other before continuing to watch on.

Moretti unleashes a barrage of right hands towards Gambino, before going a little over board and clipping the youngster around the head. Gambino looks at Johnny Moretti grinning in front of him, before picking himself up off the floor and launching himself at Johnny Moretti! However before Gambino can lay a hand on ‘All Star’ he is grabbed and restrained by the Tag Team Champions.

Johnny Moretti: “Woah! Feisty aren’t we young boy? It was an accident, chill the fuck out!”

Moretti suddenly steps forward and gets in the face of the restrained Gambino.

Johnny Moretti: “Besides, I am a fucking made guy, you don’t lay your hands on me….”

Moretti leaves the threat hanging in the air, before laughing and turning his back on Gambino and exiting the room.

Gambino looks at Barone and Anthony Moretti with an exasperated look on his face.

Anthony Moretti: “Leave it with me, he is my brother, I will handle it….”

Fade out.

BACKSTAGE
Just Talkin’

The cameras head backstage to the interview pit, where former Las Vegas Champion Gunner Lang is standing by alongside Katie Smith! The fans cheer loudly for the sight of Lang, who is standing in front of the sVo branded backdrop, as Smith begins to questions.

Katie Smith: “Gunner, thanks for joining me here tonight! Now last time on Showdown you competed against Dallas Jordan, the Las Vegas Champion, but after that match Carny Sinclair had some pretty strong words for you….”

Lang smirks as he slowly nods his head.

Gunner Lang: “That is one word you could use to describe it Katie….”

Katie Smith: “What I think the fans really want to know, is do you know why Carny Sinclair has seemingly singled you out, and what is your response?”

Lang thinks for a few seconds before answering.

Gunner Lang: “In all honesty Katie, I have no idea why Carny has picked me out. I am not sure if Carny even knows why he does things half the time, who knows what goes through his mind, he is a nut! One thing I do know though is that there is no way I am going to let him go unanswered! Carny and his big Russian friend like to run their mouth, but I like to do my talking in the ring! So Carny, you want to talk, then I am going to let these do my talking!”

Lang holds both fists up to the camera to loud cheers from the fans.

Gunner Lang: “How about you show up on the next episode of Showdown, and we ‘talk’ in the ring!”

Lang stares down the camera lens, sending a message to Carny Sinclair as the scene fades out.

SINGLE MATCH
Hiro Ryuu vs. Johnny Moretti

BACKSTAGE
Erasing History

There are cheers from the fans as the cameras head to the backstage area, where Katie Smith is standing by with another sVo superstar, this time Kenneth D Williams!

Katie Smith: “Kenneth, thanks for joining me tonight! Now only two weeks ago you stepped into the ring in the main event to compete to become the #1 contender. Now you came up just short in that match, so where does that leave your plans moving forward?”

Kenneth D Williams: “You are right Katie, I wanted to win that match more than anything, so that the Human Highlight Reel could finally get his hands on that sVo Championship! We are coming up on a year since I last got my one on one shot for the sVo Championship, at Ultimate Victory last year. That is the point I should have got my hands on the sVo Championship, by beating William Vorheez and lifting that gold over my head!”

Williams shakes his head, thinking back to the main event of Ultimate Victory 2022.

Kenneth D Williams: “With Roll the Dice coming up I want to go one better, right that wrong Katie! William Vorheez, I want to challenge you to go one on one with the Human Highlight Reel! I want to finally get that win over you, erase Ultimate Victory from the history books and put myself right back into contention! That’s the challenge Vorheez, now I need to know if you are man enough to show up!”

The fans cheer loudly for Williams, as the scene fades out.

Night vs. Bronson Johnson

RINGSIDE
I Warned You

The fans cheer loudly as the referee raises the arm of Night in the air, as the hall of famer sends the crowd home happy with a big win in the main event! Night respectfully bows to the crowd who are watching and cheering, making his way around all four sides of the ring.

The cheers continue, but suddenly there is confusion as a hooded figure hops over the security barrier out of reach of the security, and rolls into the ring! Night turns around, but can do little as the hooded figure knocks him down with a big clothesline! The fans boo loudly as the hooded figure stomps away on Night as he tries to get to his feet, before pulling his hood down to reveal his identity…

It’s Hugo Ryzing!

The fans boo loudly as Ryzing grins for a few seconds, before going back to stomping away on Night! The security and referees try to get into the ring to restore order, but Ryzing knocks them to one side, before grabbing a steel chair from ringside. Night tries to get out of the ring, but as he does Ryzing rolls back into the ring with the chair, and begins to smash it over the back of the former 2x Champion!

The fans boo loudly as Ryzing chokes Night out with the steel chair, before finally holding it above his head and standing over the hall of famer, as Showdown heads off of the air!
