sVo Sunday Night Showdown 137
Live on the HOTv Network on PWA:TV
Goodfellas Casino Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
25th September 2022

After the intro for the PWA, the entrance video package for Sunday Night Showdown begins, accompanied by the theme song of ‘Showdown’ by Pendulum as highlights of past action from 2013 to present day are sped up, showing the likes of Bobby Dean, Roscoe Shame, Night, Jay Wildman, Cody Williams & Nathan Paradine. As the video package finally comes to an end with an extended look at the ‘Sunday Night Showdown’ logo, the camera cuts to an exterior shot of the Goodfellas Casino Arena, in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, before cutting to a live shot of inside the arena. The camera pans around the sold-out crowd, most of them on their feet and screaming loudly whilst trying to get their homemade sign shown in front of the camera. The cameras finally head over to the commentary table, where Julian Fiasco and Jeremiah Sloan welcome the fans watching on the HOTv network on PWA:TV to the broadcast and begin to break down some of the action that will take place on tonight’s show!

BACKSTAGE
Night of Our Lives Pt1

There are loud cheers in the arena as the cameras head straight to the parking lot, where a black limo pulls up with the camera focusing in on the ‘Union Jack’ style number plate. The camera pans around as the driver hops out and rushes to open the passenger door, allowing Kyle McRae, Harry Black and Alexander Hate to step out!

All three members of the Empire look pumped up for the biggest nights of their careers to date, with the three Brits looks smartly dressed in navy blue suits. With an inter-promotional match against HOW’s Xander Azula now only hours away, all three men take a minute to take in the sight of the Goodfellas Casino Arena lit up in neon in front of them, before exchanging some motivation words and heading into the arena.

Can McRae keep his winning run going against the brawler from Long Beach, or will Azula’s big match HOW experience prove to be the difference maker when the pair go one on one for the first time tonight!

BACKSTAGE
7 Wins Away

The cameras head backstage to the interview area, where Katie Smith is standing in front of the sVo / HOTv backdrop, with a microphone in hand. She is joined with a smiling Bobby Dean, who appears to be preening toward the camera, with the sVo Roulette title hanging over his vast shoulder.

Katie Smith: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am joined tonight by a man well on his way to possibly securing a shot at the sVo Championship, the one and only “Beautiful” Bobby Dean.”

Bobby Dean: “Possibly? It’s more like inedible.”

Katie Smith: “Inevitable?”

Bobby Dean: “That’s what I said. Listen Katie, the sVo Championship is the ONE title that has eluded me my entire career. Sure there are many, many, MANY titles I haven’t won, but the sVo Championship is the ONLY title I’ve gone out of my way to try and win.”

Katie Smith: How many times have you failed to win it now?

Bobby Dean: “A lot less than JAS has, wait, I mean Johnny Morretti. Sorry, he’ll always be J-Ass to me.”

The already broad smile grows wider as Bobby winks into the camera, chuckling to himself.

Bobby Dean: “I’m just 7 wins away from securing my shot against Vorheez, for the sVo Championship, and let me tell you, I won’t let anyone take this opportunity away from me. Not JAS, not Gonorrhea, not Huge Rising, not El LeapFrog, not Abdullah from HOW, not even Ryu from Street Fighter.”

Katie Smith: “What about Night?”

The smile slowly evaporates, as his bright baby blue eyes dim. The mere mention of the man’s name causes Bobby’s whole demeanor to change.

Bobby Dean: “I sure liked him a lot more when he was getting his ass handed to him by Isaac White. But as for Night, I’m sure our time together will come soon enough, and I for one, cannot wait.”

With that said, Bobby Dean heads off, Roulette title in hand, smile nowhere to be found.

Katie Smith: “Back to you boys at ringside.”

Cole, Hughes and Alissia Young quickly roll to the outside of the ring to regroup, before slinking back up the entrance ramp, allowing BIG Trouble to dominate the ring!

The celebrations from the trio continue, until suddenly the lights in the arena cut!

There is a few seconds of confusion and sounds of panic, until the lights flicker back on to reveal William Vorheez and the Black Brothers standing in front of Big Aug, BIGBOSS Batts & BIG Kahuna Ali’i!

The fans boo loudly, fearing another beat down like at the end of the last episode of Showdown’s sneak attack, until they notice that BIG Trouble are ready with all three members having steel pipes in hand!

The fans boo loudly in the direction of the sVo Champion and his two proteges, as they retreat back up the entrance ramp, exchanging words with the smiling trio of BIG Trouble in the ring!

One on One with a Legend

We head backstage to the interview area where Katie Smith is standing by, microphone in hand, with an excited looking Hiro Ryuu. Smith and Ryuu stand in front of the sVo & HOTv dual banded backdrop with big smiles on their faces.

Katie Smith: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am joined here by Hiro Ryuu, former sVo TapOut Champion, who will tonight fulfil a childhood dream by stepping into the ring with sVo legend Night! Hiro, how are you feeling ahead of tonight’s main event?”

Ryuu rolls his shoulders as he steps forward to the microphone confidently.

Hiro Ryuu: “Katie, I have been preparing for this night my whole life! Tonight I take on a legend in sVo, a legend in Japan, a legend in the wrestling world!”

Katie Smith: “Well it has been over ten years since Night stepped into the ring, do you think that you can take advantage of any ring rust tonight and walk away with the win?”

Hiro Ryuu: “This is a dream for me Katie, but my dream is not to just step into the ring with Night….. it is to step into the ring with Night and WIN! Night is the biggest legend in sVo history but I hope he is at 100%, because I want no excuses when this result goes into the history books!”

Ryuu nods confidently into the camera, before giving a small nod to Katie Smith to signal that the interview is over.

Katie Smith: “Thank you for joining me tonight Hiro and good luck! Now back to ringside!”

The camera slowly fades out.

BACKSTAGE
Taking on the Russian

After the big title win for Curtis Knight, the camera heads backstage to the locker room of Jacob Izaz, where the ‘Philly Flash’ is preparing for his match which is up next against the massive Russian Reznikov! The fans cheer loudly upon spotting Izaz on the big screen, but he is interrupted as there is a knock at the door before Elena Cruz quickly barges in with a camera crew in tow.

Elena Cruz: “Mr Jacob, a quick word if you will.”

Cruz doesn’t wait for a response as she orders her camera man into place, before posing next to Jacob Izaz and fixing her hair. Izaz shrugs his shoulders, knowing better than to try and argue.

Elena Cruz: “Right, Mr Jacob. Tonight you challenge Reznikov to a match one on one….. are you crazy? He is massive!”

Izaz glances into the camera for a split second, before turning back to Cruz to answer the question.

Jacob Izaz: “Erm… Well yeah he is pretty big, but I have beaten bigger and I have beaten tougher. That Rusky SOB put his hands on my after I beat his boss fair and square last time on Showdown…. Let’s see how he fairs in a one on one fight.”

Elena Cruz: “But Mr Reznikov is undefeated in the sVo! He has Mr Carny, LAS VEGAS CHAMPION, in his corner tonight. You really think you can win this?”

Cruz pouts into the camera, clearly not too interested in the response to her question.

Jacob Izaz: “He might have Sinclair in his corner, but I beat him last week and I will beat him again if he has the balls to put that belt on the line! Now if you don’t mind, I have a match to prepare for….”

Cruz stares at Izaz in disgust, before turning back to her camera crew and snapping her fingers.

Elena Cruz: “Let’s go, the lighting is terrible in here!”

Cruz marches out of the locker room as quickly as she came in, leaving a bemused Jacob Izaz behind.

Night of Our Lives Pt2

The camera cuts to the interview area, where Katie Smith is back in front of the branded backdrop. This time the red head is joined by all three members of the Empire, with Kyle McRae flanked by Alexander Hate and Harry Black. The three Brits have changed out of their smart suits that they arrived in, and are now wearing ‘sVo branded black t-shirts over their wrestling attire. There is a big cheer for them from the crowd watching on the giant screen in the arena.

Katie Smith: “Kyle, tonight is a massive one for you, representing the sVo against HOW’s Xander Azula! Are you ready to deal with that pressure?”

Hate and Black hype McRae up as he takes a deep breath in.

Kyle McRae: “Katie, hen, I am on a roll here! I am winning match after match, I don’t care if my opponent is from the sVo, HOW…. Hell even through some PRIME or SHOOT guys into the mix! Xander Azula should remember that he is stepping into our house here tonight! I am going to send him back to HOW with an ass whooping that he will never forget!”

The crowd cheer loudly for McRae as a small ‘sVo, sVo, sVo’ chant breaks out around the arena.

Katie Smith: “There has been a lot of speculation online that Jon Page is not too happy with your performances of late, do you still have his full backing tonight?”

Kyle McRae: “Page wouldn’t have put me into this match, representing his company, if he wasn’t 100% behind me. I am going to make him and the rest of the sVo proud tonight!”

There is another big cheer from the crowd, as the camera focuses in on the confident looking face of Kyle McRae, before fading out.

The Southern Boys

As Anthony Moretti & Joe Barone are handed the sVo Tag Team Championship belts by the referee and celebrate in the ring, the cameras cut to the office of sVo Owner Jon Page who is watching the action on a giant screen with a look of disgust on his face. Page angrily shuts the TV off, as the camera pans out to reveal he is not alone in the office.

Jon Page: “I’m looking forward to you boys getting started here, especially if you can knock those two cocky SOB’s off of their perch….”

As the camera continues to zoom back, there is a cheer from the crowd who recognise the former 3x MVW Tag Team Champions ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller & ‘Dangerous’ Dan Williams sitting opposite Page!

Both of the ‘Southern Boys’ nod their heads confidently to Page.

Jon Page: “Good good boys! I’m looking forward to this bit of business, but if you don’t mind I have a big match I need to pay my full attention to when we show Xander Azula what the sVo is all about! I will definitely get you both started next week though so you can show exactly what you can do in the tag team division!”

Page rises to his feet and shakes the hands of Miller and Williams as the scene fades out.

PWA INTER-PROMOTIONAL MATCH
Kyle McRae vs. Xander Azula

RINGSIDE
Squashed

The fans packed into the Goodfellas Casino Arena stare on in shocked silence at the 4 minute annihilation of their hero by the HOW outsider, as Xander Azula stands over the broken body of Kyle McRae, having won the match with ease without even having to have hit his finishing move.

The referee sheepishly moves in and lifts the arm of Azula in the air in victory, as Kyle McRae crawls to the corner of the ring and collapses in a heap. Azula continues to celebrate in the ring, as the camera cuts to the office of Jon Page, where the sVo boss is standing in front of the TV watching the action with his mouth open.

As Azula continues to celebrate the easy win on the TV screen on front of him, Page suddenly yanks the set off of the wall and tosses it across the office in a fit of rage, as the camera dramatically cuts to black.

BACKSTAGE
On my Timetable

The camera heads to the backstage area where Hugo Ryzing is in his locker room. The fans immediately boo upon seeing the former Tag Team Champion, as Ryzing packs away his kit into a suitcase and begins to make his way towards the door.

As he does the door suddenly swings open, and the fans cheer as an angry looking Kenneth D Williams bursts into the ring and squares up to Ryzing, despite him being the much smaller man.

Kenneth D Williams: “Right, let’s have it out. You and me, let’s do this right here right now!”

Ryzing looks down at Williams before letting out a small laugh.

Hugo Ryzing: “Why do you think I would waste my time with you when there are no ranking points on the line for me?”

Williams looks incensed as he grits his teeth.

Kenneth D Williams: “I know it was you that attacked me Hugo. Let’s end this!”

Ryzing leans forward into the face of Williams.

Hugo Ryzing: “I don’t know why you seem so certain it was me, but I will be getting you back for that little attack at the PPV….. but I will be doing it in the ring.”

Ryzing lets out another laugh, before pushing past Williams and slamming the door behind him.

MAIN EVENT
Night vs. Hiro Ryuu

As Showdown returns from the commercial break, the stunned crowd from the last match are beginning to find their voice again at the prospect of the main event of the night, which will see legend and former 2x sVo Champion Night return to the ring for the first time in over ten years!

‘Starman’ by David Bowie hits the sound system and the fans rise to their feet as the mysterious Hiro Ryuu slowly steps out onto the top of the entrance ramp, looking more excited than ever at the prospect of facing off against his boyhood hero! Ryuu drops to his knee and raises a finger in the air for a few seconds before slowly pointing his finger down towards the ring. Ryuu then rises to his feet and walks slowly to the ring and rolls under the bottom rope. Ryuu climbs to the second rope of the nearest turnbuckle and looks out at the crowd before backflipping to a standing position in the ring! Ryuu paces anxiously around the ring as he and the rest of the fans await the arrival of the legend…..

….

A whisper…

……

“I’m dreaming…”

…..

The distant chords of Deftones’ “Knife Party” cut through the PA as the arena lights cut completely. The Tron sparks to life as the words “I’m dreaming…” float onto it. As the song erupts the words are replaced by one.

A name.

” N I G H T “

An explosion of purple light as the Japanese legend bursts onto the top of the ramp. Wearing black and purple tights and a matching monk styled robe he takes a moment looking around the arena and soaking in the cheers of the crowd.

He stands at the top of the entrance ramp – motionless for a moment, his stance elegant and mysterious, giving away nothing of his motives. As the music swirls away, the man only known as Night begins his walk to the ring – only, he doesn’t walk, it appears more of a graceful glide. Although he moves seamlessly, he moves deceptively quickly to the ring, sliding deliberately and headfirst into the ring.

There is a loud impromptu pop from the crowd as the music fades out and Night and Hiro Ryuu lock eyes from across the ring. The referee stands in the middle of the ring and lays down the law to both men, before making his way over to call for the bell, however he pauses as he stares out to the crowd with a confused look on his face…

Night and Ryuu don’t spot what the referee has spotted, being focused on each other, but eventually turn to look out to the crowd to see all four members of Blood Money leaping over the security barrier!

The crowd boo loudly as Johnny Moretti, Joe Barone, Junior Gambino and Anthony Moretti all leap up onto the ring apron, covering off all four corners of the ring. Ryuu and Night look at each other, as the referee quickly bails out of the ring wanting no part of what is about to happen.

Night and Ryuu rush forward and try and get the first punches in as all four members of Blood Money climb into the ring and begin to swarm the two competitors due to compete in the main event!

Johnny Moretti and Joe Barone attack Night, whilst Anthony Moretti and Junior Gambino knock Hiro Ryuu down off of his feet before dragging him out of the ring!

Night bravely fights back against Johnny Moretti and Joe Barone, whilst Anthony Moretti and Gambino drag a struggling Hiro Ryuu around to the announcer’s position! Sloan and Fiasco scatter, as Moretti and Gambino send Hiro Ryuu though the announcers table with a double team powerbomb!

Despite the numbers advantage being against him, Night seems to be winning the battle against Johnny Moretti and Joe Barone in the ring much to the delight of the crowd! Night takes turns in nailing Moretti and Barone with big chops, until Anthony Moretti and Junior Gambino slide back into the ring!

All four members of Blood Money swarm Night, taking him down to the mat and stomping away on him! The fans boo loudly with nuclear heat directed towards the group, as Night covers up from the stomps and kicks. The Tag Team Champions drag a battered Night up to his feet and hold him by his arms, as Johnny Moretti signals for ‘the Touchdown’! The fans continue to boo, but as Moretti runs at Night, he gets his feet up and nails him with a big kick to the head!

The fans pop as Night throws off Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone with a pair of hip tosses to send him out of the ring under the bottom rope, before ducking underneath an attempted clothesline from Junior Gambino before turning and clotheslining him over the top rope!

Johnny Moretti slowly rises up to his feet as Night turns back around, and realises that he is all alone with the legend! Night assumes a fighting pose, but Johnny Moretti has other ideas as he smiles at Night, before dropping down and rolling out of the ring!

The fans boo loudly as Johnny Moretti regroups with Blood Money on the outside of the ring, and make their way back up their entrance ramp, as Night stares them down from the ring. Blood Money look pleased with what they have achieved as they stand at the top of the ramp and stare back down at Night, as the sVo copyright information appears in the corner of the screen and Showdown heads off of the air!
