sVo Proving Grounds 14
Live on the HOTv Network on PWA:TV
Goodfellas Casino Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
25th November 2023

As the video package finally comes to an end with an extended look at the ‘Proving Grounds’ logo, the camera cuts to an exterior shot of the Goodfellas Casino Arena, in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, before cutting to a live shot of inside the arena. The camera pans around the sold-out crowd, most of them on their feet and screaming loudly whilst trying to get their homemade sign shown in front of the camera. The cameras finally head over to the commentary table, where Julian Fiasco and Jeremiah Sloan welcome the fans watching on the HOTv network on PWA:TV to the broadcast and begin to break down some of the action that will take place on tonight’s show!

Ringside
Answering The Challenge

The arena is buzzing with anticipation as the familiar guitar riff of Bronson Martinez’s entrance music echoes through the venue. The lights dim, and a single spotlight follows Martinez as he makes his way to the ring, his face stern and determined. He slides into the squared circle, snatches a microphone from ringside, and raises it to address the audience.

Bronson Martinez: (stoic expression) Last week, Night issued an open challenge for this week’s Showdown. And let me make something abundantly clear – I’m answering that challenge.

The crowd erupts into cheers, showing their support for Martinez’s bold decision.

Bronson Martinez: I’ve been in this business a long time, and I’ve faced the best. Night, you’re no exception. But I’m here to prove that I’ve still got what it takes to be on top. Tomorrow night, right here on Showdown, I’m coming for that sVo Championship!

Before Martinez can continue, the arena is plunged into darkness. The ominous sounds of Carny Sinclair’s music fill the air, and red lights bathe the stage. Carny Sinclair, accompanied by his imposing bodyguard Reznikov, emerges to a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Carny Sinclair: (smirking) Well, well, well. If it isn’t Bronson Martinez, the relic from the past trying to grasp onto the present. You really think you stand a chance against Night? You’re delusional.

The crowd intensifies their boos as Carny Sinclair circles the ring with Reznikov by his side. Martinez stands his ground, ready for whatever comes next.

Bronson Martinez: I’ve faced the likes of Night before, Carny. I know what it takes. And you might want to worry less about me and more about the fact that Night could be looking over his shoulder for someone like me.

Just as tension reaches its peak, the crowd erupts into cheers as the familiar theme of CJ Dreamer hits. The hometown hero, CJ Dreamer, charges down the ramp and slides into the ring. Carny Sinclair and Reznikov, outnumbered, reluctantly step back.

Carny Sinclair and Reznikov scowl as they retreat, leaving Bronson Martinez and CJ Dreamer standing tall in the ring. The crowd cheers, eager to see what unfolds on the upcoming Showdown episode.

Backstage
Respect Pt.1

Katie Smith stands backstage, ready to conduct an interview with the up-and-coming superstar Victor Holland. The camera focuses on Victor, a determined look on his face, as he approaches for the interview.

Katie Smith: (holding the microphone) Victor, last week you had an intense encounter with Danny Domino, and it seems like tensions are running high between you two. Can you shed some light on why you’ve requested a match against him this week?

Victor takes a deep breath, his gaze unwavering as he addresses Katie’s question.

Victor Holland: Katie, last week, I saw a side of Danny Domino that I didn’t appreciate. This business is tough, and respect is earned, not given. Danny seems to have forgotten that. So, I’ve requested this match because I want to teach him a lesson about respect, both in and out of the ring.

Katie nods, acknowledging Victor’s determination.

Katie Smith: (follow-up question) Some might say that Danny Domino has a wealth of experience in the ring. Are you concerned about facing such a seasoned competitor?

Victor smirks, exuding confidence.

Victor Holland: Experience is valuable, no doubt about it. But respect is earned by how you carry yourself. Danny might have more matches under his belt, but that doesn’t mean he can look down on anyone. This match is an opportunity for me to show him and everyone else that I’m here to make an impact.

Katie Smith wraps up the interview as Victor Holland walks away, his focus clearly on the upcoming match against Danny Domino. The anticipation for their showdown is building among the sVo fans.

Respect Pt.2

The bell rings, signaling the end of the intense match between Danny Domino and Victor Holland. The camera captures the aftermath as both competitors catch their breath. Danny Domino, with a sly grin, extends his hand toward Victor as if to offer a sign of sportsmanship.

Danny Domino: (smirking) You gave it your best shot, kid.

Victor Holland, a mix of exhaustion and frustration on his face, cautiously accepts the handshake. However, just as their hands meet, Danny quickly pulls his hand away, leaving Victor looking both disappointed and annoyed. The fans express their displeasure with a chorus of boos.

Crowd: Boo! Boo!

Determined not to let the mind games get to him, Victor Holland narrows his eyes at Danny, who continues to revel in the jeers from the audience. The tension between the two competitors is palpable as the segment comes to an end, leaving the sVo fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this developing rivalry.

Backstage
Veteran Move

The camera transitions backstage to the dimly lit corridors of the arena, where CJ Dreamer is seen talking to Bronson Martinez. Bronson, looking appreciative, nods in gratitude as CJ extends a handshake.

Bronson Martinez: Thanks for the backup out there, CJ. Those two are real pieces of work.

CJ Dreamer: No problem, Bronson. Sinclair and his goon need to learn some respect. But speaking of respect, you’ve got a big one-on-one with Night tomorrow night for the sVo Championship.

Bronson Martinez: (nodding) Yeah, it’s a huge opportunity. I appreciate the well wishes.

CJ Dreamer: No doubt. And hey, while we’re talking about taking care of business, I’ve got a match with Carny Sinclair later tonight. Guy’s been running roughshod over everyone lately. It’s time someone puts him in his place.

Bronson Martinez: You’ve got my support, CJ. Take him down a peg for all of us.

CJ Dreamer: I intend to. And after that, Carny might think twice before interfering in anyone else’s business.

As the two wrestlers exchange a nod of mutual understanding, the camera fades out, leaving the anticipation high for CJ Dreamer’s showdown with Carny Sinclair later in the evening.

Blood Money in the House

The camera opens to a smoke-filled locker room, adorned with dim lights and the faint murmur of conversation. Blood Money, the mafia-inspired heel group, is gathered, and Junior Gambino is lacing up his boots in preparation for his main event match against El Froggo. Anthony Moretti, flanked by Joe Barone, imparts some words of advice.

Anthony Moretti: Junior, tonight is all about making a statement. Show everyone why we’re on top. Make El Froggo an offer he can’t refuse.

Junior Gambino nods, a determined look in his eyes, as he finishes tying his boots.

Junior Gambino: You got it, Anthony. El Froggo’s stepping into our world tonight, and he’s gonna regret it.

Joe Barone, stoic as ever, steps forward.

Joe Barone: Show him who runs things, Gambino.

Anthony Moretti: (smirking) Joe’s right. We run things our way, the family way. But don’t forget, if he steps out of line, send him a message.

Junior Gambino cracks his knuckles, his eyes gleaming with a menacing determination.

Junior Gambino: Consider it done, boss. El Froggo’s gonna be sleeping with the fishes by the end of the night.

As Junior Gambino readies himself, the rest of Blood Money exchange knowing looks, their sinister unity palpable. The camera fades out, leaving the locker room filled with an air of impending chaos.

Feeling Froggy

Katie Smith stands backstage, ready to interview El Froggo, who wears his iconic mask and emanates an air of mystery. As the camera focuses on Katie and El Froggo, the excitement in the air is palpable.

Katie Smith: El Froggo, tonight you face Junior Gambino in the main event. Can you give us any insight into your strategy or how you’re feeling about this match?

El Froggo nods, displaying determination as he communicates non-verbally.

Katie Smith: The sVo Universe is eager to see you in action. Do you have any words for your opponent tonight?

El Froggo raises a hand, gesturing confidently. Suddenly, the atmosphere changes as Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone, members of Blood Money, make their presence known.

Anthony Moretti: Well, well, well, look who we got here. El Froggo, right? You think you can just waltz in here and steal the spotlight?

Joe Barone smirks, nodding in agreement with Anthony’s sentiment.

Katie Smith: (interjecting) El Froggo, Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone seem to have something to say. Any response?

El Froggo stands his ground, staring down Anthony Moretti and Joe Barone.

Anthony Moretti: You better watch your back, Froggy. Blood Money runs this place, and you’re just a guest.

El Froggo remains silent, his masked expression unreadable. The tension between the competitors intensifies as the scene fades to black, leaving the sVo Universe anticipating the main event.
