sVo Showdown Episode #077
10th April 2011
Goodfellas Casino Arena, Las Vegas Nevada
“Natural High” by The Union Underground hits the sound system as the sVo Showdown entrance video hits the screens of TV’s all over the world! The video featuring the likes of sVo Champion Jay Wildman, Roscoe Shame, Night, Bobby Dean and Samuel Amos shows some of the best action to have ever taken place on the flagship show of the Sanctioned Violence Organization.
As the video comes to an end, the camera cuts to the arena and pans around the sold out crowd as pyro’s shoot up from the entrance stage whilst the theme music continues to blast out over the sound system. The camera picks out several signs in the crowd as the fireworks continue to explode around the ringside area.
The camera then pans across to the entrance stage, where a video recap of last weeks action is shown on the giant Violence-Tron before tonight’s action gets under-way.
LAST WEEK ON SHOWDOWN #76Paradine manages to get his shoulder up at the two count, causing Wildman to grab the reigning sVo Tag Team Champion and attempt to pull him to his feet only to eat a vicious forearm shot to his face! Paradine whips Wildman into the ropes and lifts his leg, hitting a HUGE big boot as Wildman rebounds! Paradine drops down and applies an armlock, driving his elbow down onto Wildman’s shoulder several times before wrenching his arm, eliciting a scream of pain from the champ. Wildman manages to get his foot up onto the rope and secures his release from the hold. Paradine backs away into the corner, kneeling down and waiting for Wildman to climb to his feet. As Wildman stands upright Paradine charges forwards however Wildman steps out of the way leaving Paradine to crash into the corner! Wildman immediately goes on the offensive, jumping onto the second rope and hitting a huge springboard DDT as Paradine staggers to his feet! The crowd cheers for Wildman as he climbs to his feet and rolls his injured shoulder. He stomps down on Paradine before climbing up onto the top rope, slapping his elbow. He times the move perfectly, flying through the air just as Paradine stands up… only for Paradine to duck underneath the flying elbow attempt!
Before Wildman has to chance to turn around Paradine grabs both of his arms, applying a full nelson lock and transitioning it into a painful looking facebuster. Paradine then grabs Wildman’s right leg, attempting to apply a single leg Boston crab however Wildman flails and manages to kick Paradine away. Paradine again moves forward and kicks at Wildman, sending him down onto the mat again. Paradine continues to stomp down on Wildman’s shoulder trying to take his right arm out of commission. Paradine lifts Wildman to his feet and attempts to connect with a sudden lariat, but Wildman ducks underneath the arm and hits a German suplex! Wildman sits up, clutching at his arm, before standing up and staring down his opponent. Paradine stirs and slowly rises, turning around a taking the full force of a Jay Wildman Superkick before Wildman drops and attempts another cover! The sVo Champion just hit his finishing move, could this match be over?
One!
Two!
NO!
Paradine throws his shoulder up just as the referee drops his arm for the three count! Wildman slaps the mat and delivers several strong strikes to Paradine’s face before pulling him to his feet. Wildman throws Paradine into the ropes and hip tosses him on the rebound, causing Paradine to tumble out of the ring to the outside. Paradine clutches the guardrail and pulls himself to his feet, rubbing his jaw and staring up at Wildman with distaste. Paradine climbs back into the ring and Wildman prepares for the attack, both men hunching over low to the ground and before charging forwards and locking up.
As Paradine and Wildman tie up in the middle of the ring there is a cheer from the crowd as a masked Grimnir appears on the top of the entrance ramp! Grimnir watches the action as Paradine again pushes Wildman onto the ropes, driving his knee over and over again into Wildman’s torso trying to get an advantage. Wildman kneels over and Paradine throws him back into the centre of the ring, lining him up and hitting a running bulldog. Paradine rolls Wildman over and hooks his leg, only for Wildman to kickout after a single count! Paradine shakes his head in disbelief as both men stand up, trading a series of punches. Paradine blocks a blow from Wildman and hits a clothesline, knocking Wildman back down onto the mat. Paradine drops and and begins to work over Wildman’s shoulder yet again, akin to a wild animal mauling its prey. Wildman manages to get up onto his knees but Paradine forces him back down, viciously driving his elbow into Wildman’s kidney. Wildman slumps and Paradine grabs his injured arm, applying a crossface chickenwing. Wildman struggles for a moment, before suddenly tapping out to the submission hold!
Paradine immediately releases the hold and rolls out of the ring as “Sorry You’re Not A Winner” resumes playing over the sound system. Grimnir watches from the entrance ramp as Paradine backs up the ramp as the referee checks on Wildman, making a title belt motion around his waist before disappearing backstage.
With Nathan Paradine being one of the five men to throw their name into the ring to face off against Wildman for the sVo Championship, will the Australian by the next man to hold the belt?
Trading Spaces
Nathan Paradine is shown standing outside the Second to None locker room, carefully supervising two workmen as they pry the gold “220” numbers on the door away.
Nathan Paradine: “Careful, please! That’s real gold, it wasn’t cheap to have it made.”
Paradine folds his arms over his chest as they take the “0” off the door, picking up a gilded sign that simply reads “Nathan Paradine” in sharp black letters and proceeding to nail it to the door.
Nathan Paradine: “Good. Good! Make sure you get it perfectly straight, alright?”
Cody Williams emerges from further down the hallway, his sVo Tag Team Championship slung over his shoulder. He stares at the sign in befuddlement, his eyes wide open.
Cody Williams: “What’s going on here?”
Nathan Paradine: “Cody! Glad you’re here buddy. I’m just undertaking a little bit of exterior remodelling.”
Cody Williams: “Why is your name on the door?”
Nathan Paradine: “Well, I’ve been thinking. I mean, if it wasn’t for me we wouldn’t have these title belts right now. And… well, I’m the one fighting in the world title scene, while you sort of just… um…”
Paradine pats Cody on the shoulder.
Nathan Paradine: “Floundering in the mid card, so to speak. So, I decided that since I’m doing most of the work for the team, I should get the locker room.”
Cody Williams: “WHAT!? Nathan, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. You can’t just take our locker room!”
Nathan Paradine: “I just did. Now, I’ve got another meeting, so if you could finish up here for me and supervise these guys that would be great.”
Before Cody can reply Nathan walks away, leaving his tag team partner looking more than a little exasperated outside their former shared locker room as the scene cuts back to the ring.
SINGLE MATCH
Rey Rosario vs. Intrepid
“Last Resort” hits the sound system and there is a mixed reaction from the fans as Rey Rosario comes out completely ignoring the crowd. Rosario slowly makes his way down the entrance ramp, remaining focused on the ring as he continues to ignore the noise from the fans. Rosario enters underneath the bottom rope and sits down on the corner awaiting the match to start.
Ortiz: At this time, weighing 246 pounds. He is the Hellbilly from Hot Springs…the one known as…INTREPID!
‘Must Kill’ by Cavalera Conspiracy begins playing and not even a second after that the entrance ramp begins flashing with a quick burst of white strobe light and Intrepid comes out quickly but stops on the entrance ramp as D.Filed follows closely behind. He stares out into the crowd grooving to the beat of the music, glaring at them through the eyes of his mask. He suddenly thrusts his arm into the air and screams.
Intrepid: HEATHENS!!!
As soon as the crowd reacts, Intrepid runs down the entire aisle all the way to the ring. He dives onto the ring apron and slides into the ring on his stomach. When He reaches the opposite side of the ring he pushes himself into a standing position. Before stepping out toward the referee Intrepid turns and kneels in the corner to pray. After everyone clearly has an awkward moment he stands and nods to the referee that he is ready to go.
Ding, Ding!
The two men circle each other before for a second before Rosario initiates a collar and elbow tie up. He forces Intrepid into the corner, but all he gets is a sneaky thumb to the eye from the WWA’s missionary. The crowd boos and Intrepid doesn’t miss a beat, landing a low dropkick square on Rosario’s knee that sends him falling face first into the middle turnbuckle. He rolls away in pain and Intrepid stays right on him, dropping a vicious elbow across the knee that took the dropkick. Rosario though, ever the hardcore brawler that he is fights through the pain of the leglock Intrepid slaps on him and plants a stiff right hand directly into the masked maniac’s jaw. Intrepid is thrown for a loop and rolls away, holding his face.
Rosario takes to a vertical base again and hobbles over to Intrepid, working the kinks out of his knee. He forcibly picks his opponent up and delivers a few hard forearm shots to Intrepid before Irish whipping him and catching him with a spinebuster on the rebound. He goes for a quick cover.
One…
Two…
Kickout!
Intrepid rolls the shoulder up and begins to crawl away towards the ropes. Rosario makes chase and goes to pick Intrepid up, but the Hellbilly manages to worm out of his grasp and go low to hit a nasty chop block on Rosario’s hurt knee. He crumples to the mat and roars in pain as Intrepid slyly stands, clearly he was playing possum. Intrepid moves in on his prey and turns Rosario over into a single leg crab. Intrepid torques sickly on the hold and Rosario struggles under the pressure. The crowd begins to surge in support for Rosario to reach the ropes, and as their cheers grow louder his face becomes a steel mask of resolve. He rears up and begins to make his way towards the ropes, inch by inch. Intrepid shouts at the “heathen” to give up, but no is clearly not in Rey’s vocabulary tonight.
He crawls ever closer to the ropes before finally reaching them. Intrepid snarls in displeasure and refuses to let go of the hold.
One!

Three!
Four!
Fiv-
Intrepid finally lets go of the single leg at four and nine tenths and backs away from Rosario. The crowd boos furiously as Intrepid circles his opponent like a vulture and taunts him to stand up.
Intrepid: Get up, Heathen! Rise from the ashes and defend your cesspool!
The crowd boos more as Intrepid delivers an open handed slap that connects as solidly as any strike has tonight. Rosario is infuriated by this and immediately retorts with a battering ram like headbutt directly into Intrepid’s sternum. Intrepid doubles over and Rosario capitalizes with a ring shaking Samoan drop! He rolls over into the cover…
One…
Two…
Three! NO!
Intrepid manages to get the shoulder up again at the last second. Rosario pounds the mat in frustration and pushes the offensive more, on one leg or not. He picks Intrepid up and Irish whips him once more. Intrepid ducks the clothesline attempt and comes back at Rosario, who catches him this time with a snap powerslam!
One…
Two…
Thre-Kickout!
Intrepid shows his resilience and gets out AGAIN! Rosario looks bewildered that the Hellbilly continues to kick out and continues his onslaught. He still has something left that may put the Masked man down for good.
Rey picks Intrepid up and hooks him up for the DDT! Intrepid sees this coming though, and drops to his knees, catching Rey’s knee with a wicked elbow shot. Both men yelp in pain at the bone to bone contact, but Intrepid is much less worse for wear and pounces on the wounded Rosario. He hooks up Rosario for a vertebreaker and drops him on the back of his neck with Judgment Rendered! Rosario slumps over and Intrepid makes the cover, hooking the wounded leg and grinding a forearm into the face.
One…
Two…
Three!
Ding, Ding!
“Must Kill” pipes in over the PA system and Intrepid almost immediately ascends the closest turnbuckle to a chorus of boos. He revels in the hate of the heathens as the match comes to a close…
In continuation of a theme
Jay Wildman walks toward his locker room, bag in hand and the World title around his waist. He wears a gray suit and green tie with coal black dress shoes. As he turns a blind corner, he nearly runs into Katie Smith. She takes a step back with her hands up. Jay shakes his head and tries to walk past her. She springs into action and strikes up a conversation.
Katie: Wait! Hold on! I haven’t had a chance to talk to you yet!
Jay stops and sighs in exasperation; his shoulders slumped in defeat as he turns around to face Katie.
Jay: What do you want?
Katie: I wanted to get your thoughts on the events that happened last week, I think you had something to say and everyone interrupted you far too many times.
Jay: So?
Katie: Here’s your chance to say whatever it is you need to say. No one will interrupt you, no one even knows you’re here yet.
Jay drops his bag from his hand and looks at Katie with a slight frown on his face. He takes in a deep breath, grabs the mic from Katie and starts to speak.
Jay: Yeah, you can say that, I had something perfect to say and everyone decided it was their time to act like a spoiled child and demand something they think is rightfully theirs without having to go through earning it first. Sure, every one of those men had a valid claim. Yeah, they can all say they are next in line but they have to understand something. If we don’t stand united against the WWA, they aren’t going to get a moment’s rest if they ever pry the title from my hands. They’re motivated by their own greed instead of…
Jay stops and slowly turns his head. The camera turns with him and spots a man standing next to him in a Grimnir mask. The man stares at Jay, his heavy breathing making it tough to continue. Jay rolls his eyes, shakes his head, drops the mic, turns around and picks up his bag. Katie bends down and scoops up the mic, shouting at Jay as he’s about ready to turn the corner.
Katie: Don’t go! You can say…
Jay: Nevermind, I have some other business matters.
Jay disappears down the hallway, leaving Katie and the man in the Grimnir mask. Katie turns to the man with anger on her face and pushes him hard.
Katie: What the hell is wrong with you?! I had a chance to get a big scoop and you had to go screw it up! Come on, let’s go.
The camera stays on the man in the Grimnir mask as he stands there and breathes, never moving from his spot. The camera feed fades.
SINGLE MATCH
Chris Wrestling vs. Jaymz Watkins
“Last Resort” hits the sound system and on the big screen we see highlights of “Canadian Perfect” Chris Wrestling. Wrestling comes out with a huge smirk on his face, trying to prevent the crowd from touching him.
As Wrestling stalks around the ring, waiting for his opponent, the 8-bit tomfoolery of Brian Lebarton’s remix of “Threshold” by Sex Bob-Omb slinks out of the arena’s speakers, and the crowd gets to its feet in unison, cheering wildly. On the tron, an 8-bit wrestling ring has appeared, and an 8-bit Jaymz Watkins lays into 8-bit victims as his name forms in crackly 8-bit letters.
The stage flashes with gold and black lights, and Jaymz Watkins emerges from the back, smiling at the crowd that seems unhappy to see him. He bows at the top before sprinting down to the ring and sliding under the bottom rope, popping back up and hustling over to a corner. He climbs and bows to the crowd again, but is met with the unfamiliar sound of boos. Once he hits all the corners, he drops from the final one and stretches, preparing for wrestling Wrestling.
With both men in the ring, the referee calls for the bell. The two men go to lock-up, but Watkins pulls back, staring out into the crowd and holding up all five fingers. The crowd boos heavily again, unimpressed with the King of the Five Magics. Watkins charges towards Wrestling, who takes him down with a drop toe-hold. Watkins uses his strength advantage to lift Wrestling up, hurling him off of him and across the ring. Not missing a beat, Watkins rushes over and kicks Wrestling square in the face. Watkins lays the bad mouth on Wrestling, telling wrestling that DJ isn’t here to save him. Watkins tosses Wrestling, but the Canadian grappler holds on to Watkins’ arm and drags him over, locking him in an armbar.
Watkins yells to the ref that Wrestling pulled the hair and takes that opportunity to drive an elbow hard into Wrestling’s midsection. Watkins slides behind the stunned Canuck and locks him in a cobra clutch, tossing him high in the air and driving both of his knees down into his back — Watkins’ trademark Red Barchetta. A cover only draws a two-count, as Wrestling slides out of the ring.
Watkins climbs to the top rope, sizing Wrestling up before jumping towards him with a jumping drop kick. Wrestling sees the move coming and sidesteps, causing Watkins to connect with the barricade. Wrestling slides back in the ring, telling the ref to count. Watkins slowly gets up at the six count, nursing his left knee. He slides into the ring, begging off from the advancing Wrestling.
Wrestling lays two hard rights into Watkins’ face, before pulling him into the middle of the ring via the leg. He stomps down hard on the sore knee, before sliding around and locking in an Indian Death Lock.
Watkins screams out, pulling towards the ropes as Wrestling gives it his all. Watkins inches closer and closer, as Wrestling pushes hard on the knee with his outstretched leg. Watkins reaches the ropes, causing the ref to break the hold. Wrestling tries to pull Watkins back out into the middle of the squared circle, but Watkins holds onto the bottom rope, kicking away at Wrestling. One kick lands flush on his face, dropping the Canadian technician to his knees.
The King of the Five Magics rushes towards Wrestling, aiming at his head with a shining wizard. Wrestling ducks at the last second, hurling his body into Watkins’ knee. Wrestling lifts Watkins up, tossing him into the ropes and hitting the other rope. Wrestling connects with a sliding clothesline, as Watkins wearily tries to pull himself up.
Wrestling rushes across the ring, climbing the corner turnbuckle. He looks at Watkins, a confident look on his face.
Wrestling steadies himself and jumps towards Watkins, arm outstretched. Watkins sees Wrestling and rotates his body, turning around and pulling Wrestling hard down to the canvas in a modified Ace Crusher that Watkins calls the King Jawbreaker. Watkins covers, draping an arm over the fallen Wrestling while staring into the camera with a cocky smile on his face.
One…
Two…
Three!
Watkins rolls off of Wrestling, rolling to his knees in the middle of the ring. Watkins holds his outstretched hand high into the air, as catcalls fill the arena. Watkins slowly raises his head up, tiled towards the crowd with a huge smile on his face. Watkins asks for a mic.
Watkins: “So, this is what the sVo is about, huh? Chris Wrestling. Fucking amateur hour! I didn’t come here to wrestle against the drudges of this shithole. If I don’t start getting more respect and better matches, I’m going to make things very unpleasant for those that wrong me.”

We cut to a feed backstage in a hallway adjacent to the WWA locker-room. The door with a WWA plaque on it is open enough that the camera can catch a glimpse of some of the things going on inside.
Candi Cross: Can you see inside?
Cameraman: Shhh..
Candi Cross: sorry..
There seems to be a commotion going on because the WWA stars that are visible aren’t getting ready for their respective matches. RJ Stone is pacing and talking as if he is talking to someone and Jack Griffiths and Jaymz Watkins are looking at something that is blocked off by the door. Candi Cross begins whsipering.
Candi Cross: ..we’re here outside the world wrestling alliance’s locker-room. there appears to be some sort of commotion going on inside of the locker-room and we’re trying to see what’s going on without alerting the superstars of our presence.. could you get a better angle on the door?
Cameraman: ..i’ll try..
Candi Cross: it appears as if RJ Stone is speaking to someone and he doesn’t appear to be too happy.
The cameraman moves as we see what appears to be an outstretched hand coming from behind the door. RJ Stone takes one look at it and turns away mouthing something that can’t be picked up by the camera at this distance. Then the person moves within perspective but their back is turned as whoever it is begins to shake hands with Jaymz Watkins first and Jack Griffiths second.
Candi Cross: ..who is that?
The figure then turns, and begins walking toward the door.
Candi Cross: quick! hide!
Candi and the Cameraman both have to find safe cover and it takes them a few moments to do so. Just as the cameraman turns around he catches Samuel Amos exiting the WWA locker-room!
Candi Cross: Is that.. Samuel Amos? What’s he doing in the WWA locker-room?
Cameraman: I don’t know.
Candi Cross: Doesn’t he have a match with RJ Stone tonight?
The camera turns back towards the WWA locker-room, where a disgruntled looking Stone is seen talking to Watkins and Griffiths.. who both shrug their shoulders as well.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The Rodriguez Brothers vs. Alex Brooks & Jack Heart”Clubfoot” by Kasabian starts up with a single strobe in the centre of the stage. “Jukebox Hero” kicks in over the arena PA. Brooks busts out onto the stage and looks at the crowd for a couple of seconds before running down the aisle, slapping hands with as many fans as possible.

Chezina holds his hands up in the air before slowly making his way down the entrance ramp towards the ring. Chivo towers over the fans lining the entrance ramp, and as he steps up onto the ring apron, he is able to step over the top rope with ease! Chezina struts around the ring for a few seconds to show his dominance before preparing for the match to get under-way.
With both teams ready to get things started, the referee calls for the bell to be rung and for Chivo and Alex Brooks to get the match underway. The crowd cheer as Brooks rushes forward towards the massive Chivo and lays into him with some big right hands to get the match started. Brooks is unable to knock the former tag team champion off his feet, but as he bounces back off of the ropes and looks for a clothesline he is met with a big big boot to the face from Chivo!
The fans boo as Chivo pulls Brooks up to his feet before slamming him down to the mat with a side slam. Brooks looks in pain as Chivo stands over him taunting to the crowd before making the tag out to Chezina. Brooks staggers back holding his face in pain and Chezina drops Brooks with a gutwrench powerbomb before making the cover.

Brooks staggers out of the corner, but as Chezina bounces into the ropes and looks for a big clothesline, Brooks is able to duck out of the way! The fans cheer as Brooks scores a big dropkick on Chezina, but it isn’t enough to knock the big man off of his feet! Chezina staggers backwards, but Brooks lands another dropkick to knock Chezina down!

infAMOS Pt.II
We cut to a feed backstage where Candi Cross is seen standing next to Samuel Amos. Amos is all geared up and ready for his upcoming match with RJ Stone and is literally bouncing around on his tiptoes.
Candi Cross: Hello sVo Universe! I’m Candi Cross here alongside Samuel Amos again.
Samuel Amos: Hey.
Candi Cross: And tonight you take on RJ Stone in what’s sure to be a great battle!
Samuel Amos: Yea Candi, I’m looking forward to it. I think Stone can make it far here in sVo if he puts his mind to it.
Candi Cross: Well Sam, I called you back here because I wanted to ask you a few questions about a few rumors that are circulating..
Sam adopts a questioning look on his face.
Samuel Amos: Oh? There’s rumors about me now?
Candi Cross: Yeah, Sam. Rumors. First thing is first though, I hear that you want another sVo Title Shot sometime in the near future?
Sam’s questioning look turns to a smile.
Samuel Amos: Of course. But I’m not gonna be pushy about it. It, or any sVo title opportunity will happen when it happens.
Candi Cross: Sure. Second thing. I saw you, I mean, I heard someone say that they saw you walking out of the WWA locker-room earlier today.. do you mind telling us what that was all about?
Samuel Amos: Umm.. excuse me?
Candi Cross: Rumor has it that it was caught on video. You, Samuel Amos.. shaking hands with WWA members and walking out of their locker-room. Are you cutting some sort of a deal? Is Samuel Amos joining WWA?
Sam’s expression changes, and the anger and rage he feels seems to scream from his eyes.
Samuel Amos: What the hell? Is someone stalking me now?
Just then, Candi is interrupted as sVo World Heavyweight Champion Jay Wildman walks on screen. He kindly asks Candi for the microphone and excuses her. This enrages Amos even more. Wildman stands toe to toe with Amos with the Championship strap draped over his shoulder in just a way that it’s only mere inches away from Amos’ face.
Jay Wildman: Well Sam, I sure hope you weren’t thinking of doing what I thought you might be doing.
Amos doesn’t say a word, he just continues to seethe in anger.
Jay Wildman: I thought I made myself clear last week when I said that everyone in the sVo locker-room needs to come together at a time like this. Now Sammy, I knew you probably wouldn’t listen to what I have to say because you hate the fact that you couldn’t beat me for my championship not once, but twice. But Sammy, even I thought you’d be a bigger man than this.
Samuel Amos: Oh you did, huh?
Jay Wildman: So tell me Amos. What exactly were you doing back there? Should I be expecting an attack from WWA members sometime in the near future?
Amos looks like he wishes he could kill Wildman right now, but after a few deep breaths, he looks Wildman in the eye.. and talks through gritted teeth.
Samuel Amos: I don’t answer to ANYONE Wildman! Especially not YOU! How many times must I say it before it sinks into that old ass melon of yours.. champ.. AMOS belongs to NO ONE!
With that, a very frustrated Samuel Amos storms off, leaving the Champion with more questions than he has answers.
LUMBERJACK MATCH
Chris Bond vs. El LoconThe lights in the Goodfella’s Casino Arena dim to an almost pitch-black level and soon enough a yellowish hue engulfs the ‘arena’. As he emerges from behind the curtain, there is a small burst of excitement from the crowd. The fans boo loudly as Stone, Griffiths, Segier and Watkins lay into El Locon with some vicious kicks on the outside of the ring! Bond doesn’t look too happy about it as he rolls to the outside of the ring and grabs a steel chair from the announcers position! Chris Bond rushes around and threatens to hit the WWA with the chair!
The four WWA stars quickly back away from Bond, allowing El Locon time to roll back into the ring. Bond himself rolls back into the ring before the WWA stars can get to him. El Locon staggers up to his feet and rushes towards Bond, but Bond takes him down to the mat with a big powerslam before making the cover.

One Step Closer
The scene opens up to the backstage area where we see sVo interviewer and correspondent Katie Smith standing in the hallway area between locker rooms. The camera slowly begins to pan backwards revealing the person standing next to her to be none other than “The Reflection of Perfection” Cody Williams. He is standing there, wearing the brand new sVo: United We Stand t-shirt which is on sale in the sVo shop for only $24.95!!! Cody has his designer sunglasses on, his wrestling gear, and the Tag Team championship slung over his left shoulder.
Katie Smith: Cody everyone is wondering what the status of Second to None is, with you and Nathan Paradine having some internal issues to be dealt with.
“The Reflection of Perfection” snaps his head towards Katie Smith and raises an eyebrow. He slowly raises his right hand towards his face and extends his index finger, and slolwy lifts his sunglasses off of the bridge of his nose and on top of his forehead. He has a puzzled look on his face and turns his head sideways, as he stares at Katie with a questionable look.
Cody Williams: The status of Second to None? Everyone wants to know the status of COdy Williams and Nathan Paradine?
Katie Smith: Yes..
Cody Williams: The status of Second to None is right here…
He points to the championship belt drapped on his shoulder and pats the centerplate three times.
Cody Williams: Nathan Paradine and Cody Williams are the reigning sVo Tag Team champions. That means that we are the best tag team in the sVo right now and quite possibly the best tag team in sVo history! Now these internal issues that you speak of, Nathan and I have had some miscommunication issues as of late but we are still working towards the same goal. And that Katie is to become the World’s greatest tag team and to one day hold the sVo Heavyweight championship.
Katie Smith: The road to the sVo championship has been a rough and rocky one for you Cody. But you have kept your goal of becoming a grand slam champion in your sights, and tonight you will challenge Reaper for the Las vegas championship.
A smirk fills the face of Cody Williams.
Cody Williams: The last time I challenged for the Las Vegas championship the better man came out the winner, my tag team partner Nathan Paradine. Ever since then I have become a TapOut champion, a two time International champion, the first in the history of the sVo, and of course a Tag Team champion. Tonight, I will take one more step closer to my destiny, my calling as a grand slam champion when I become the NEW sVo Las Vegas..
Cody turns his attention to his side where he hears clapping in the distance. He turns around, only to be met by the current Las Vegas champion Reaper who stands there with his championship belt draped over his shoulder. He adjusts the belt and shakes his head from left to right.
Reaper: So you think that you have what it takes to take this away from me?
He turns his head towards the Las Vegas championship, Cody follows suit by looking towards it as well before turning his attention back to Reaper.
Cody Williams: Yeah, I do.
Reaper: Well I’ll be damned if a bastage like you beats me for my belt. So if you think you’re going to walk away tonight with this around your waist, you better get your head checked. Heh, if I were you I’d worry less about face time in front of the camera and more about getting ready for our little match tonight. You called me out Cody, and I’m gonna make you pay for it Mr. Reflection of Perfection.
Reaper drives his finger into the chest of Cody as he calls him by his nickname.
Cody Williams: Best be sure that I will be bringing everything I have tonight. I’ll see you in the ring.
Reaper: It’s gonna take more than that! Get out of my way!
The Las Vegas champion shoves Cody out of the way as he makes his way past him and Katie. Cody readjusts the championship belt on his shoulder, shaking his head from left to right as his eyes continue to follow Reaper’s movement. His nostrils flare and his breathing starts to become heavier as he stands there while the camera begins to fade to black.
SINGLE MATCH
RJ Stone vs. Samuel Amos
Savium’s instrumental cover of “Sad But True” by Metallica obliterates the PA system. The SVO-Tron displays nothing fancy. Simply the words THE ASSASSIN in a font that looks like static on a television screen manifest into words. As the song brutally churns along, a brilliant red pyro goes off. When it has subsided, RJ Stone stands at the top of the entrance ramp, seemingly materialized from thin air. His arms are out at his sides, much akin to Raven’s old signature pose. He holds this for a few long moments before stalking purposefully down the entrance ramp. He ignores the crowds boos the entire time. The WWA’s own ring announcer, Gary Trudeau, has the mic.
Trudeau: Ladies and Gentlemen, now entering the ring and representing the World Wrestling Alliance, he weighs in at 244 pounds and hails from Fresno, California, this man who will be destroying the overrated Samuel Amos tonight, please welcome the legendary “Assassin” ARRRRRE JAYYYYY STOOOOOOONE!
RJ quickly slides under the bottom rope and is on the nearest turnbuckle in a flash. He stares a hole into the fans for a moment before repeating the same pose he held on the entrance ramp. He holds this for a few seconds before hopping down from the turnbuckle and leaning back into the corner in a sitting position, staring with intent and malice directed at the entrance ramp.
“Your Betrayal” by Bullet for my Valentine hits the sound system and the fans in the arena quickly begin to boo. After a few seconds red fireworks shoot up from the entrance stage as Samuel Amos walks out and taunts to the fans. Amos looks around at the crowd, before slowly making his way down the entrance ramp towards the ring. Amos ignores the outstretched hands of the fans as he climbs up onto the ring apron before turning to taunt the fans again. The fans continue to boo Amos as he steps into the ring by climbing through the ring ropes before preparing for the match to start in the corner of the ring.
Both men are in opposite corners, with the crowd doing dueling “You suck RJ; you suck Amos” chants. The two men lock eyes, as the arena starts to energize.
The two men spend the first few minutes trading holds, with neither getting an upper hand. Stone seems to accept that better, whereas Amos grows frustrated at Stone being on par with him.
Again they lock up, but this time Stone pushes Amos out and slaps him hard across the face, echoing throughout the arena. Stone rushes to the floor, an infuriated Amos right behind him. Stone waits for Amos to reenter the ring and catches him with a running yakuza kick. The move dizzies Amos and Stone toss him over in a bridging Regalplex into a pin that gest a long one count. Amos blocks a running knee strike and throws a hard forearm at Stone, connecting with the side of his head. Stone retreats, holding his ear, as Amos catches his breath.
Amos stalks towards Stone, laying a swift boot into his midsection and then lifting the Assassin high in the air with a piledriver, finally spiking him down hard on the top of his head. Amos wraps his legs around Stone and locks in a sleeper hold, wearing down Stone’s head.
Stone’s left foot reaches the rope, causing the break. Amos lifts Stone up by the hair, sending him towards the ropes. Stone reverses the hold, and Amos finds himself on the defensive. On the rebound, he jumps towards Stone in a Lou Thesz Press but Stone sees it coming and brings Amos down hard on his head with a snap DDT.
One…
Two…
T-Kickout!
Stone shows the referee how to count to three and the hits Amos with a backbreaker that echoes throughout the arena. Stone covers again, but Amos kicks out at exactly the two count. Stone pushes his forearm into Amos’ face and covers once again, but this just angers Amos, who immediately kicks out.
Amos returns the favor from the earlier slap, as the arena roars with approval. Amos takes R.J. down hard to the canvas, locking him in a front chancery. Amos lays the bad mouth on Stone, telling him to quit and save himself but Stone pushes his hands in between his throat and Amos’ locked arms, slowly forcing them apart. Amos struggles to hold on, but finally the hold is broken. Amos delivers a hard right to Stone, before pulling him back down to the canvas by the hair.
One…
Two-Kickout!
Amos grows visibly frustrated. He bounces off the far ropes and slams a big right arm across Stone. It knocks the assassin to a knee. Amos hits the ropes again and a second right arm completely levels Stone. Amos covers, but lifts Stone up at the one count, saying he hasn’t learned his lesson yet.
Amos lifts Stone’s right arm into the sky, putting a big right hand in his armpit. As Stone winces in pain, Amos locks in the Famous Amos Shoulder Separator.
Stone frantically tries to escape, but Amos has the hold locked in tight. The crowd quickly rises, facing the entranceway. From there, we see that Jaymz Watkins slowly starts to walk down the ramp. Amos lets go of the hold to confront Watkins, right as Stone’s left arm seems ready to give.
Watkins points at something, distracting the ref. Amos reaches through the ropes to slap at Watkins, who steps backwards and raises both hands up, showing the referee that he didn’t do anything.
Amos turns around, as Stone races towards him. Moving rapidly, Amos jumps into the air and wraps his legs around Stone, bringing him forward with his finisher, infAMOS. Stone’s head plants into the canvas, as Amos covers, hooking a leg.
One…
Two…
Three!
Amos doesn’t have a minute to rest, as Watkins is right on top of him, stomping away. Watkins pulls Amos up, locking both of his arms and driving him face first into the canvas with his Killdozer hold.
Stone and Watkins stand over Amos, admiring their handiwork, as we cut to a break.
Pepin Video
The sVotron roars to life, as the areana fades to black. We cut to an extreme close-up of Bruce Pepin’s smiling face. Slowly the smile fades, as Pepin winks and puts a finger up to his mouth, making a loud shhh noise. A song starts up, as the camera pans back to see Pepin standing in front of an enormous Canadian flag, stretching almost the length of a city block.
You always were there,
Always beside me.
Holding my hand every step of the way.
Through these eyes, you could do no wrong.
In these eyes, you were brave and strong.
In my heart, those days live on.
The camera cuts to a scene of Pepin in an orphanage, pouring soup for the young victims of misfortune. A little girl runs up and hugs Pepin tightly around the leg, causing him to gently pat her head and look back at the camera, flashing his trademarked smile.
You were my hero.
Hero!
You were my hero.
Whoa, whoa!
Yeah.
Pepin appears the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, shaking hands with Wayne Gretzky. The two men stop to take photos, after which time Gretzky asks Pepin to autograph his Canadian flag. Pepin does, again looking directly into the camera afterwards and smiling.
What does it take to be a hero?
What does it take to be a man?
I’m lookin’ down into my young boy’s eyes.
As I feel his love, oh I realize,
The joy you passed along,
All day long.
We cut to Pepin, outside with his shirt off, chopping down a tree that falls partway into water. After it falls, he walks along it and dives headfirst off, as the camera pans to a wide shot and shows Pepin diving over Niagara Falls. A second later, we cut to Pepin emerging from the bottom, walking out of the water and into a crowd of screaming ladies. They hand him a towel and he dries off, smiling as two ladies plant kisses on both sides of his cheeks.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
Oh, whoa.
Pepin stands in front of the Centre Block of Her Majesty’s Government on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. He shakes his head no, with a smile, as the camera reviews a massive crowd of Canadians holding up signs urging him to run against Stephen Harper, Canada’s Prime Minister.
Feeling is everywhere.
It’s all around us.
It lives inside the hearts of you and me.
Now it’s our time to keep our country strong.
Can see that no man’s son will walk alone.
Oh just take my hand.
Come on, take my hand.
At a Canadian Army base, Pepin walks into a crowded room as the soldier’s burst out in applause. Pepin bows to them, a huge smile on his face, as they all salute the “Canadian Crusader.”
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
Oh, whoa.
We cut to the Hart House in Calgary. Pepin hands over a check to a real estate agent and smiles wide. The camera transposes to the Dungeon, where Pepin works over two young wrestlers at the same time, causing them to tap out as he beams with pride, looking over towards a photo of Bret and Stu on the wall.
There’s no greater pleasure,
Nothing greater to do.
Just feelin’ your love can feel fear out of you.
I wanna be a,
I wanna be a hero.
Surrounded by Inuk’s in Nunavut, Pepin eyes a target. Slowly, methodically, he advances towards his adversary – a polar bear. As Pepin is within striking distance, the polar bear lays down and slaps his paw on the ice, surrendering. The Inuk’s jump up and down, applauding.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Yeah.
Back in Toronto, we see Pepin on a date with a girl with multi-colored hair. They are at Colborne Lane, a romantic restaurant. Through the window, we see a slacker looking down as tears pour down his face. Another man reaches over and hugs him. We cut back to Pepin, who pulls out a piece of paper and crosses off the name “S. Pilgrim”. He then smiles and kisses the girls neck as she giggles.
I’ll be your hero.
I’ll be your hero.
I wanna be your hero.
Hero!
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Yeah.
With mountains standing high in the background, Pepin swims laps across the world-famous Moraine Lake, known for its unique shade of blue. He quickly turns and heads back the other way, spitting water out of his mouth and then smiling. We see a family of moose watching his every move, with two elk joining them.
I’ll be your hero.
I wanna be your hero.
Hero!
He walks down rue Sainte-Cathrine, eating a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and a large plate of poutine. Behind him is a parade of followers, throwing streamers into the air and blowing horns. Pepin looks at the camera, gives an innocent smile and does the universal sign for “I don’t know,” before giving a hearty laugh.
I’ll be your hero!
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Inside the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Alanis Morrissette stands angrily on stage as the crowd focuses towards the back of the arena, surrounding Pepin as he quickly signs autographs. Pepin looks at Morrissette, smiles and winks, causing her to fall to her knees with a dreamy look on her face.
I’ll be your hero.
Hero!
The camera shows Pepin again, standing with a Canadian flag and a Quebec flag drapped over his shoulders, with people wearing jersey’s of all the Canadian NHL teams standing behind him cheering. A graphic appears over top of the picture reading…
CANADIAN BORN.
CANADIAN BRED.
CANADIAN HERO.
CANADIAN CRUSADER.
The music stops and the entire crowd yells out.
Crowd: BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Pepin: That’s me!
A little girl walks forward, from off camera.
Girl: Mister Pepin, thank you for being my hero. I love you very much.
The crowd awwws.
Pepin: NO, little girl. Thank you for believing in me!
The camera rapidly zooms in on his face again, his huge smile filing the lens. The scene fades to black as we head to a commercial.
SINGLE MATCH
Roscoe Shame vs. Sheldon Hossteder
“White and Nerdy” by Weird Al begins pumping throughout the Goodfellas casino and wrestling venue and this can only mean one thing, and the crowd produces a hardy cheer for their resident geek. Sheldon rides out onto the stage on his segway and starts waving enthusiastically to the crowd. As he makes his way to the ring he shakes hands and high fives everyone that he can. He gets in the ring and removes his shirt, bow tie and pants then patiently waits for the bell. He is handed a note by a reluctant Bobby Dean who is actually wearing a referee’s outfit with blue and black strides instead of the traditional black and white.
The camera operator happens slide in behind Hossteder and catches him opening the note which reads; “I’ll be watching.” Suddenly “Must Kill” by Cavalera Conspiracy begins playing and not even a second after that the entrance ramp begins flashing with a quick burst of white strobe light and Intrepid comes out quickly but stops on the entrance ramp as D.Filed follows closely behind. He stares out into the crowd grooving to the beat of the music, glaring at them through the eyes of his mask. The couple are wearing blue Sara Pettis t-shirts and carrying a chair a piece. D.Filed waves and blows Sheldon a kiss as they unfold their chairs and simply sit down on the entrance ramp.
Sheldon isn’t pleased about this one bit but actually turns away and ignores them. Bobby Dean may have gotten a little more than he had bargained for signing up to referee tonight. The fans in the arena boo as yellow and red fireworks shoot up into the air from the entrance ramp as “Drop Tha World” by Lil Wayne hits the sound system. D.Filed and Intrepid aren’t even phased by the commotion and a few seconds later Roscoe Shame appears at the top of the ramp.
Roscoe isn’t please either with the fact that his spotlight has been preempted by this sVo / WWA upstart. D.Filed and Intrepid continue to remain seated and pretend that they are just two more heads in the crowd, clapping for Shame as the crowd boos him. Roscoe stalks over to the odd couple who surprisingly remains seated and continue to cheer for him. After failing to intimidate them, Roscoe shakes his head in disgust and he makes his way slowly down the entrance ramp his way to the ring. As Shame walks past pyro’s shoot up alongside him from either side of the ramp until he reaches the ring. Roscoe Shame slowly climbs into the ring soaking up the fans reaction, before posing on the nearest turnbuckle.
Dean doesn’t even waste a second calling for the bell and Hossteder quickly runs up behind Shame, stepping up onto the rope. He tucks his head under Shame’s armpit and grabs hold his leg, bending it fully. Hossteder then lifts Shame up, pulling him off balance from the turnbuckle and slams him downwards, driving Shame’s knee into the mat.
Hossteder is back up quickly and is surveying the wounded Shame while eyeing the ramp for Intrepid, who is still there watching the match intently. Shame has rolled over onto his back and instead of attempting a pinfall, Hossteder applies a standing scissor lock around Shame’s leg and falls to the mat lying off at an angle. Hossteder pulls on Shame’s leg, trying to hyperextend his knee and applying pressure to the hamstrings.
Shame is not happy about this and begins thrashing around to either use his strength to get to rope or sit up. Shame is eventually able to sit up only after a good amount of damage had been done to his knee. Shame uses the pain and his anger at Hossteder to reach out and sucker punch him in the side of the face. Hossteder quickly lets go and rolls away from any other attempts from Shame and gets to his feet. He notices Shame has pulled himself to his feet as well but is hobbling noticeably.
Hossteder takes off running straight at Shame and times a baseball slide to the injured leg poorly and pays dearly as Shame drops a vicious elbow across the sternum of Hossteder as he slides into place. The crowd gasps just about the same time Hossteder has the air driven from his lungs. Shame stands up and attempts to pull Hossteder onto his feet but fails to do so because his knee gives out. Hossteder musters enough strength to roll out of the ring and flops onto the thin mat below.
When Hossteder stands and clears the cobwebs out he quickly turns to find the D.Filed and Intrepid have moved their chairs halfway up the aisle and pretend to act like fans. They are even holding signs above their heads with one reading, “Sheldon is White and Turdy” and the other “Make Sara Pet it.” Hossteder shakes his head and turns away from the two silent observers to find that Shame is already nearing the ropes in a limping rage.
Dean is counting Hossteder as slowly as he can and this causes Shame to confront Dean which gives Hossteder the advantage. A Hossteder attempt to climb in behind Shame but the heavyweight reads it in Dean’s eyes and turns around quickly to clothesline an oncoming Hossteder. This time Shame capitalizes by making a pinfall attempt.
One…
Two…
Thr…NO!
Hossteder gets a shoulder up and all three notices that Intrepid is ringside. Dean and Shame both stand up and begin admonishing Intrepid from the ropes that he needs to return to the lockeroom. Intrepid stands there innocently with both hands held up and…
…Hossteder is on his feet quickly running up behind Shame, pulling him into a small package. Shame however is able to roll through with the maneuver and come back out upright. Hossteder is back up and somewhat surprised that he was unable to capitalize. Shame bends Hossteder over and applies a standing head scissors, then grabs him around the waist. Shame lifts Hossteder up sitting Sheldon on his shoulders facing the opposite direction. Shame then viciously drops the Sheldon down back first to the mat.
He rolls into a pinfall attempt and Dean reluctantly slides in to administer the count.
One….
….
Two….
….
Three!
Even with Dean counting slowly, Shame was able to disorient Hossteder enough to pick up the win. The crowd is on their feet and booing as “Drop Tha World” by Lil Wayne begins pumping through the speakers. Before Dean could deliver the arm raise to signal Shame’s win, he is interrupted by Hossteder as he deliberately stands up and walks between the two former tag team partners. Dean and Shame begin arguing with each other and Hossteder isn’t about to care what happens with them. He has his eyes on Intrepid and slides under the bottom rope and is on the masked superstar in a flash.
Hossteder: What are doing?
Before Intrepid could even answer Hossteder nails Intrepid with a Decrypter and the crowd loves it. Sheldon is inwardly livid but there is a gleam of joy in his eyes as he jumps on his Segway and attempts to run over Intrepid’s head as he whizzes by. Intrepid rolls out of the way quickly and watches as nemesis whizzes up the ramp and backstage.
After suffering a beat down at the hands of the WWA at Vendetta, Jon Page returns to the sVo in a position of power for the first time in over a year!

DOUBLE JEOPARDY MATCH
Trendkiller, SurReal & Kash vs. Jay Wildman, Night & Nathan ParadineAs sVo Showdown returns from the commerical break Kash is already in the ring as the opening chords of Chromium’s ‘Ex Amino’ echo across the arena, drawing a typically hostile reaction from the fans, most of whom are not particularly looking forward to seeing SurReal emerge from behind the curtain.
SurReal strides out from the back, stopping at the top of the ramp gearing himself up for the contest ahead with his head bowed. With his mind focused entirely on the match ahead he pays no heed to the mixture of jeers and cheers coming at him from all directions.
Ring Announcer: And the opponent… weighing in at two hundred forty pounds. From Belfast, Northern Ireland… He is The Tribal War Machine… SUUUUUURRRRRRREAL!
As his name rings out from the sound system, the Irishman throws his arms up cueing a series of pyrotechnics to explode upwards with a flaming effect either side of him, this causes the volume of the crowd’s reaction to rise a few notches. As he slowly raises his head he fixes his eyes on his opponent, already formulating strategies aimed at walking away victorious.
He slowly makes his way down the ramp, stopping as he reaches the ring-steps he loosens his body up before ascending the steps, walking along the apron to the far turnbuckle. He climbs to the middle rope before thrusting his arms out in his trademark crucifix pose which sparks another burst of jeering from the crowd. A quick look around before he vaults the ropes into the ring and rolls his neck back and forth whilst cracking his knuckles, it’s game time and all other thoughts are quickly dispelled as he focuses in on the task in hand.
With a sudden explosion of noise, Pantera’s “The Great Southern Trendkill” obliterates the speaker system, launching straight into the mad, gargling shriek of Phil Anselmo, as the crowd gets on their feet, blowing the roof away with their insane hatred for Trendkiller. The words THE GREAT SOUTHERN KILLER OF TRENDS appear on the WWATron, quickly followed by TRENDKILLER and then, after a flash-by of an upper-body picture of the big, bald badass, the words HE WILL HURT YOU. The curtain hanging in front of the entrance splits and slides to the sides, revealing the silhouette of Trendkiller, the gargantuan man backlit by a flickering strobe.
It’s wearing on my mind,
I’m speaking all my doubts aloud
You rob a dead mans grave,
Then flaunt it like you did create
If I hit bottom and everythings gone
In the great Mississippi, please drown me and run
Trendkiller steps out of the strobe and is immediately lit by twin spotlights that wash over his frame, all other lights dimmed. Sneering, the big man raises his arms above his head, bellowing, causing the boos to multiply tenfold, the jeering crowd reaching a boiling point.
Ortiz: Ladies and gentlemen, hailing from Dallas, Texas, he weighed in at three-hundred and sixty-five pounds … He is the great southern killer of trends -TREEEEEEENDKIIIIIILLEEEEERRR!
It’s digging time again,
you’re nurturing the weakest trend
Those with the heart and the brain to get past this
Can spot a pathetic without even asking
Ignoring the crowd, Trendkiller lowers his arms and walks down to the ring, stretching his arms and swinging his enormous fists from side to side to unstiffen his joints. He reaches ringside and steps onto the apron and then over the top-rope into the ring.
Fuck your magazine,
and fuck the long dead plastic scene
Pierce a new hole,

THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL
That’s right,
THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL
The crowd still boos like mad, but Trendkiller is deaf to their jeers as he ascends the turnbuckles and raises one arm, fist clenched, staring blankly into the crowd for a moment, before dropping down and turning to the action at hand.
“Sorry, You’re Not A Winner” by Enter Shikari blasts around the arena as Nathan Paradine appears at the top of the ramp, his arms crossed over his chest and his head bowed. He glances up, the lights reflecting off his sunglasses and he points out towards the crowd, oblivious to their boos. He marches down to the ring and slides in underneath the bottom rope, climbing to his feet and raising an arm up into the air as the music dies away.
A whisper…
“I’m dreaming…”
The distant chords of Deftones’ “Knife Party” cut through the PA as the arena lights cut completely. The Tron sparks to life as the words “I’m dreaming…” float onto it. As the song errupts the words are replaced by one.
A name.
” N I G H T “
An explosion of purple light as a man in a purple tights with black wrestling boots bursts onto the entrance ramp. A head of black dreadlocks stream off his head, tracing the man’s jaw. The crowd erupts as the sVo Hall-of-Famer stands at the top of the entrance ramp – motionless for a moment, his stance elegant and mysterious, giving away nothing of his motives. As the music swirls away, the man only known as Night begins his walk to the ring – only, he doesn’t walk, it appears more of a graceful glide. Although he moves seamlessly, he moves deceptively quickly to the ring, sliding deliberately and headfirst into the ring.
“End of Line” by Daft Punk plays over the PA system as the house lights alternate from green to black lighting and back again. After a few moments of playing, the house lights go out completely for a few moments before they flare to life again with Jay Wildman standing in the center of the ring, his hand pointed up in the air in defiance. He walks over to the corner, steps up to the second belt buckle and stares out into the crowd before hopping down, preparing himself for the match at hand.
