Episode #006
WHO IS THERE?
Jon Page, partial owner of the Sanctioned Violence Organisation and long time rival of Jimmy Moretti paused to collect himself outside his business partner’s office. It was rare that the alleged one-time mobster worked up the imperiousness to summon him to a face to face meeting. It usually meant something serious. The kind of bump in the corporate road that forced them to lay aside their differences for a while. Jon found these events bearable, but they always seemed to be a painful test of his partner’s willpower.
As ready as he was likely to ever be for the looming confrontation, Jon pushed the door open. He never knocked if he thought about it. That would be a sign of respect and could be construed as a mark of Moretti’s dominance. Even in subtle ways, Jon strove to remind Moretti that they were in this, equal.
The room was dark. Not the usual dimness that Moretti preferred for keeping his guests tense, but actually black. The light from the foyer spilled around Jon and glittered off the polished mahogany panelling of the office. Odd shapes that Jon knew to be various bits of art and old federation memorabilia swam in and out of the shadows.
“Jim?” Page asked hesitantly. It wasn’t like Moretti to miss an appointment.
Far back in the office where the light couldn’t reach the cherry-red of a cigar glowed as the smoker inhaled. The cloying scent of the trademark cuban caressed Jon’s nose. He stepped inside the office, but didn’t let the door shut. He wanted light, this dark room felt too much like a trap.
“Let the door shut.” A velvety soft tenor said from the dark’s embrace. It was definitely not Moretti.
“Whoever you are, you are absolutely fired. You know that, right?” Page growled as he reached for the light switch. “Moretti will kill you personally for smoking that.”
There was a scrape in the gloom, like a chair shifting under someone’s weight. “You don’t fear Moretti, why should I?” The light switch clicked with no result. Jon cursed softly. The voice continued: “Then again, you don’t fear much. That’s why you haven’t backed out of the room yet. You’re angry, and a little bit curious too, aren’t you? Who would be bold enough to flaunt Moretti’s name and power, in his own office no less. Can such a person be used in your little war? Could he be trusted?”
Jon moved back into the door, ready to fight or run. The mystery man hadn’t moved as far as he could tell. Maybe there was some legitimacy to this meeting after all. He said nothing, letting the other man continue. That moment of relaxation cost him.
The door slammed shut suddenly, hammering Page’s body and skull into the solid frame. One last thought flew through his head as the floor rushed up to meet him: Shit, there were two of them…
CHANGE OF PLAN
A Silver ’72 Nova SS pulls up at the backstage entrance. A pair of boots hit the cement and the camera reveals Johnny All-Star standing there in a smart dress suit. He quickly takes a look around the surroundings and his brow furrows.
All Star – Oh shit.
The sVo’s International Champion gets back into the car, and the car speeds off out of the parking lot in a trail of dust.
The shot pans to the backstage entrance revealing two men standing there conversing amongst themselves drinking coffee. The taller sharp dressed man looks from the speeding car to his shorter not as well dressed partner.
Barone – Dammit, that was him wasn’t it Landry?
Landry – I do believe it was. What do we do now?
Barone – We go wait for him at his locker room of course, he does have to go there eventually. He’s not going to wrestle in a suit.
The shorter out of shape detective is already at the door holding the door open looking back.
Landry – That’s why they pay you the big bucks Barone.
WARNING SHOT
Jack looked down at his captive. Page had just moaned and begun to stir. He hadn’t been out long at all. The Dark jester tore the last strip of duct tape and tossed the roll onto Moretti’s desk.
“Never let it be said that you took your time with anything.” Jack told the waking man. The sVo Joker picked up a heavy cigar cutter off the desk. It was one of the nutcracker style snippers. Twin blades gleamed in a round hole between the handles. Page groaned again. “Oh, come on. You’re tougher than that.”
Jack slammed the heavy handle of the cutter onto the back of Page’s left hand, grinding the metal butt into the soft tendons. Jon’s eyes flew open. The Co-Owner sucked in a sharp breath and jerked his arms agains the duct tape that held them. Jack let the pressure off of his hand. Before Page could ball a fist Jack grabbed his ring finger and slid it into the cutter.
“You Mother Fu-!” Jon raged, losing his cool for the first time under the sVo banner. Jack squeezed slightly on the cutter. Tiny crimson drops welled beneath the blades. Page’s curse was lost to a sharp hiss.
“Such a mouth.” Jack tsked. “And I just wanted to talk…” The jester patted Page’s cheek and relaxed his grip.
“You know your problem, Page? You’re like Japan; your Dynasty ended years ago but you just haven’t realized it yet.” Jack shook his head, the silver bells of his cap tinkleing softly with the movement. “It’s really a tragedy. I remember watching you wrestle back in the day. Now that was hardcore! Even wearing that goofball mask at Project: Violence, that was something. To see you reduced to this…” Jack stretched out his free hand and gestured to the surrounding walls of the Goodfellas casino, “Mike Best’s bodyguard and Jimmy Moretti’s straight man, it’s beyond a tragedy. Odeipus really had nothing on you, and that guy slept with his mom before gouging his own eyes out.
“Seriously, do you really think your presence here accomplishes anything? Denial is the river you’re drowning in, old boy. Why can’t you retire gracefully, instead of locking yourself into this asylum with the lunatics? Doesn’t it rankle to know that Moretti, the man you profess to loathe the presence of, is making a mint off your being on his show?”
“Our show,” Page grunted, “And you’re fired!”
“I’m afraid that that’s out of your hands at the moment.” Jack smiled, “Don’t think I’m not expecting retribution. I’m not dumb enough to think that this treatment will even slow you down. This is more of a demonstration,” Jon tensed to thrash again. Jack applied more pressure to the cutters. Blood flowed freely from the digit. “And a warning. I got the drop on you once. I can do it again. If I even hear a water cooler rumour that you’re going to step in to help your buddy Mike against me the way Moretti stepped in last time, I’ll be back.” Jack released Page’s finger and trailed the bloody cutter up the bound man’s thigh suggestively, “And next time I get creative.”
Jack straightened and walked from the room with a bounce in his step and Page’s curses ringing in his ears. He let the heavy wooden door swing shut behind him and looked over to where his accomplice leaned against the secretary’s desk. Thankfully the grotesquely obese shrew that usually occupied the station had been dismissed for the day.
“Sounds like you had a good time in there.” Jimmy Moretti grinned around his cigar.
Jack looked at the blood on his glove and sighed. “Yeah, he’ll come after me now. Probably with Best leading the neo-mongolian horde.”
“Good.” Moretti straightened and turned to exit the office with Jack in tow. “Let’s get on down to the show. I have some excellent seats to watch the other two champions. Oh and Jack?”
“Yeah?” The dark jester answered.
“You owe me a new fucking cigar cutter.”
OPENING MATCH
sVo HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH
‘STB’ Jason Cash vs. Tristan Walker vs. Clifton ‘Hot Rod’ Blaze
‘Here Come the Money’ hits the sound system and there is a mixed reaction amongst the fans as ‘Simply The Best’ Jason Cash steps out onto the top of the entrance ramp! Money can be seen falling down on the sVo giant arena screen as Jason Cash taunts the fans whilst slowly making his way down towards the ring. Cash gives one last taunt to the fans before rolling into the ring under the bottom rope and preparing for battle.
Chop Suey by System of a Down begins to the blare over the sound system in the arena and a mixed reaction greets the arrival of Tristan Walker at the top of the sVo entrance ramp. Walker performs his trademark taunt at the top of the entrance ramp before sprinting down and sliding into the ring. Walker quickly makes his way to the nearest turnbuckle and jumps up to the second rope, before raising his hands in the air to signal to the crowd.
Explode by Treso Hugo hits the sound system and the fans watch on in amazement as large fireballs begin to shoot up alongside the entrance ramp. After a few seconds Clifton ‘Hot Rod’ Blaze steps out onto the entrance ramp in the middle of the fireballs and holds his hands in the air. Flashes go off all around the arena from cameras as people try to capture a picture of Blaze as he runs down the entrance ramp amongst the flames. Blaze then slides straight into the ring before wondering into the middle, and throwing his hands up causing a huge burst of fire to shoot up from each other the turnbuckles before Blaze begins to warm up for the match.
With all three men in the ring and ready to go, the referee calls for the bell to be rung and this #1 contendership match for the sVo Hardcore Championship belt is underway! Blaze who is tonight making his sVo debut goes straight after Jason Cash and takes him to the mat with an arm drag takedown. Blaze begins to work over the arm of Jason Cash with some hard stomps, before Walker interjects and throws Blaze into the corner of the ring. Walker uses his street fighting ability learned on the mean streets of Chicago to lay into Blaze with some pounding body blows in the corner, before sending him right across the ring to the opposite corner.
Blaze hits hard in the corner of the ring, but as Walker prepares to run across and nail him with a clothesline in the corner, Jason Cash cuts him off halfway across the ring with a clothesline of his own! Walker hits the mat hard and Jason Cash quickly grabs Blaze by the back of the neck, and throws him out of the ring between the second and third ropes. Jason Cash quickly turns his attention back towards Walker and goes for a quick cover on his opponent, but Walker who is also making his sVo debut manages to kick out after a count of two.
As Walker holds his neck in agony, Jason Cash rolls under the bottom rope and meets Blaze on the outside who is beginning to get to his feet. Jason Cash grabs Blaze by the back of the head and slams him face first into the security barrier. Blaze holds his face in pain as Jason Cash pulls up the ring apron and pulls out a trash can full of goodies! The fans rise to their feet in anticipation as Jason Cash empties the contents of the trash can on the floor, as a 4×4, a staple gun, a baseball bat and a sheet of metal fall out, amongst other things!
Jason Cash quickly goes straight for the baseball bat, and with a sickening crunch he nails Blaze right in the ribs! Jason Cash continues to nail Blaze with the bat as the fans at ringside watch on, until Walker slides out of the ring and grabs the sheet of metal from behind the back of Jason Cash. Walker quickly takes advantage of the situation and slams the metal sheet across the back of Jason Cash’s head which causes the self proclaimed ‘Simply the Best’ to drop down to the ground! With Cash down, Walker quickly makes the cover!

Cash grabs the microphone from ringside and then throws the referee into the ring!
Jason Cash – “Jon Page, I’ve been here two weeks but already this place is just like Dynasty Wrestling! You book my against no bodies and then screw me out of matches by paying off chumps like this to make fast counts! Well Jason Cash isn’t having it anymore, from now on Jason Cash is on strike!”
The fans boo as Jason Cash continues to beat down the referee! With Cash on strike, just what will this mean for his match at the oncoming PPV?

THE CHAMP IS HERE
In the parking lot, there is a screech of tires as a silver Dodge Charger squeals into a parking space, nearly hitting the large SUV next to it. In clear violation of his personal no smoking rule, a single cigarette butt flies out of the driver’s side window as the door swings open, revealing sVo World Champion Michael Best! There is sweat on his brow, and his usually well kempt brown hair is matted down to his head. He clearly hasn’t showered since his match with Julian Fiasco at South of Heaven, and there are sweat marks underneath his armpits, showing through his hastily buttoned white dress shirt. He tosses his gear bag out onto the concrete, shutting the door behind him.
Best: Moretti, you asshat… I’m here. I made it.
Hurridly, he picks up his gear bag and runs towards the building, nearly at a sprint, only to find the entrance door locked! Looking through the glass, his face drops as he sees Jimmy Moretti standing on the other side of it, a key in his hand! Moretti wears a large grin, laughing out loud as he turns to walk back towards his office, leaving The Mike Effect out of luck in the parking lot.
…..CRASH!
Glass shatters and Jimmy Moretti turns around, shocked, as Michael Best’s gear bag comes crashing through the glass doors of the wrestler entrance! A cocky, smirking Michael Best comes stepping through the open glass, careful not to cut himself. He gives Moretti the middle finger as he wanders past him, handing him a small piece of paper as he does so.
Moretti: What the hell is this?
Best smirks.
Best: A check for the cost of that door. Wouldn’t want to get fired for property destruction, now would I?
He chuckles, turning the corner and leaving Jimmy Moretti with a scowl. Having made it back to the arena in time, what else will Jimmy Moretti do to Michael Best tonight?

The referee tries to tell Best to get away from the ringside area, but Best signals to the referee that he is only here to watch and check out his opponent for the Redemption PPV! All Star – Shhssshhh kid. I’ll do you one better if you promise not to scream. I’ll give you that autograph and some cash if you’ll do me one little favour.
The kid’s eyes go wide with excitement as All-Star takes his hand away from the kid’s mouth and he begins to whisper in his ear.

CHANGE OF PLAN PT.3
Detective’s Barone and Landry are still standing outside the sVo’s International Champion’s locker room. Suddenly the kid with the All-Star jersey runs screaming past them.
Kid – ALL STAR …….. ALL STAR
The detectives look at one another.
Barone – Lets go.
Landry drops his hot dog on the floor as they take off down the hallway after the kid. As they round the corner they catch up to the screaming kid. Barone reaches out grabbing the kid spinning him around to face him as Landry catches up out of breath.
Landry – Huhh huhhh huhhhh. Kid did you see Mr. All-Star?
The kid pulls himself free of Barone’s grip pointing towards a wide open door.
Kid – Yeah he went in there.
Barone tussles the kid’s hair, and the detectives rush through the open door out of sight.
Landry – What the hell?
Suddenly the door swings shut with a loud click as it locks, revealing Johnny All-Star standing there with a smirk on his face as he wipes his hands together.
All Star – Good job kid.
The kid walks towards Johnny with a smile on his face and his hand out.
Johnny shakes his head reaching into the inside pocked of his jacket pulling out a fifty, which the kid quickly grabs and takes off down the hallway.
All Star – Freaking little leach. He’ll go far in life.
As Johnny turns to walk off towards his locker room he runs into Katie Smith who had her business face on.
Smith – Johnny. Do you have a couple of minutes for a quick interview?
The champ adjusts the belt on his shoulder.
All Star – Sure thing.
Smith – What are your intentions tonight?
All Star – My intentions are to go down to that ring and do what I do best.
Smith – That’s not what I was referring too. What are your intentions in regards to your ominous invitation to that meeting?
All Star – I guess you’ll just have to tune in to find out Katie. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got a match to get ready for, and don’t you have some hearts to go breaking or something?
As Johnny begins to walk away a light muffling can be heard coming from within the custodians closet.
Katie Smith looks from the closet to All-Star.
Smith – Ummm. What’s that?
Johnny looks back over his shoulder.
All-Star – Um. Svend’s in there freaking out about a mess that I told him he had to clean up.

The lights dim slowly in the arena as the Tron flares to life, an image of two dice roling towards the front of the screen. Mike stops for a moment on the stage, slapping his chest twice and pointing out at the crowd, raising his eyebrows and throwing out a wink. LOVE TRIANGLE
We are in the back with a slightly bruised and patched up Tristan Walker after his attack last night by the two Casino bodyguards, and some more possibly from his last match. He is in deep conversation with the red haired interviewer Katie Smith. She is staring up at him affectionately while Tristan is smiling confidently back down at her.
Walker – So anyway, whats up with you and that Blaze guy?
Katie – Well, I don’t know. He seems nice enough but there’s something about him that just…. I don’t know.
Walker – Oh really? Speak of the devil…
None other than Clifton Blaze strolls into view, glaring at Tristan Walker with utter hatred written all over his face. Katie looks slightly abashed.
Blaze – What do you think you’re doing?!
He puts his arm around Katie.
Blaze – I think you’ll find that this fine girl is mine.
Katie – Well actually-
Walker – What are you on about? She isn’t exclusive property of yours! Katie belongs to whoever she wants to. Just because you forced yourself upon her last week does not mean you have the right to call her ‘yours’.
Blaze – Take a hike, jackass. This is forbidden territory.
Walker – Oh is it really? Seriously, you have problems.
Blaze – You’ll have problems when I kick your ass!
Katie – LOOK! Everyone shut up! This really isn’t going to solve anything. Right now, I am very confused. Both of you guys are great, but I can’t decide between you.
Walker – Well then let us decide. How about, next week, Tristan Walker vs. Clifton “Small Rod” Blaze. The winner gets the services of Katie Smith for a whole YEAR. Thats right, a YEAR!
Blaze – Thats perfectly ok with me. Is that ok with you, babe?
Katie – Umm…Yes. Yes it is.
Walker – Good. I’ll see you next week, bitch!
Tristan barges past Blaze, knocking him slightly as Katie Smith, obviously upset by this ordeal, storms off in the opposite direction, leaving Blaze all by himself.
CHANGE OF PLAN PT.4
All-Star is making his way through the backstage are after the loss at the hands of Mike Best. As he approaches his locker room, he is greeted by Cynthia Davis, who apparently must have just finished a shift as she is still in her scrubs. Confused, Johnny gives her a quick hug.
All Star – Cyn! What are you doing here?
Cynthia returns the hug.
Davis – I thought you could use the support. It’s what people do for each other.
All Star – Well it’s appreciated, but I have to do this alone. You saw last week.
Davis – I know. I just wanted you to know that I was here for you.
A smile appears on All-Star’s face.
All Star – That’s great but I need to get changed and meet these clowns. What I need you to do is lock yourself in my locker room and I’ll be back to get you.
Cynthia smiles and nods, then places a kiss on Johnny’s cheek. The scene fads as they enter the locker room.
